For centuries, becoming an “inventor” has been a hard gig to crack. Complexities relating to financing, engineering, distribution, and legalities have stood in the way of brilliant people executing on their great ideas.

Since launching in 2009, Quirky has rapidly changed the way the world thinks about product development.

We bring at least three brand new consumer products to market each week, by enabling a fluid conversation between a global community and Quirky's expert product design staff.

The world influences our business in real-time, and we share our revenue directly with the people who helped us make successful decisions.

We’re looking for an amazing and passionate Community Support Representative to join our team in NYC.

The Candidate:
We’re not looking to create a “Hello, my name is Mary, this call will be monitored and recorded” kind of service culture. We’re looking for candor and conversation, with a healthy dose of audaciousness. We believe that our community members who don’t happen to work in our office (a group that includes inventors, customers, and creative folk) deserve to be treated as partners. We’re in this together. Don’t worry; it’s fine if your name is Mary... as long as you’re a Mary who possesses that intangible ability to understand and react to what people want and need without them even asking for it. A Mary who can coordinate and manage like none other, and who cares immensely about people, and more importantly the community which she (or he) is a part of and serving. If this sounds like you, please read on.

The Job:
As our Community Support Representative, you will
  • Be a member of Quirky’s Platform team, reporting to Quirky’s Head of Community

  • Communicate with a variety of Quirky stakeholders for any number of different reasons

  • Contribute to Quirky’s success, by helping maintain the health of the community

  • Be a part of a growing movement to make invention accessible

The Responsibilities:
Communicate with people who come to Quirky for a variety of different reasons:
  • To our inventors and prospective inventors: Welcome and walk inventors through the Quirky process, convincing them that we’re the right partners for bringing their product ideas to life.

  • To our influencers: Help community members navigate Quirky’s unique product development process. First-time member needs help because he doesn’t know how to submit his great great product name idea... for 2 hours... on the phone? On it.

  • To our customers/shoppers: We want to deliver the world’s best customer service and believe that great service can easily turn a customer into an inventor and deeply invested community member. Make ‘em happy.

  • To the Quirky staff: Lead an ongoing back-and-forth conversation between our employees and the rest of our community.

The Qualifications:
  • EXCELLENT writing and speaking ability

  • Ability to organize and respond to a high volume of emails and phone calls

  • Confident, convincing, and contagious personality

  • Eagerness to learn about all aspects of our operation, in excruciating detail, so you can explain everything patiently and accurately

  • Flexibility with working hours. Quirky’s service hours are from 9am to 9pm, seven days a week

  • Desire and ability to wear many hats and throw down when necessary... you’ll help with marketing, PR, events, unloading the truck, and more!

  • An entrepreneurial spirit

  • Action and detail oriented

  • Passion for what we are building at Quirky

The Application:
  • Check us out at www.quirky.com. Create an account and spend some time learning about what we do. If you like what you see, please continue.

  • Submit your resume with a personalized cover letter to me, Nathaniel, explaining why you want this job and why you’d be a great fit for this position.
