This week, we’ll brainstorm two very different ideas: one charges your phone, the other jumps your car, but both have the potential to become a stunning new Quirky product. The two new topics that will be discussed today at 6pm EST are:
- Slim iPhone Charger and Stand
- Retractable Jumper Cables
If you’re new to brainstorms, allow us to explain. Every week, QDS blows a few product ideas wide open to kick off the design process. You can take part in that. Here’s how:
1. Topics are posted above. In your wildest dreams, what would be the perfect way to make that product? What should it do, and what problems should it prevent? It’s a brainstorm, so anything goes.
2. Visit the Quirky Live Channel at 6pm ET today. Log Read More...
Quirky Product Evaluation is arguably the most important part of the Quirky process. It is the result of days and weeks of submissions, votes, comments, revisions, and staff picks for Under Consideration, all culminating every Thursday night at 7pm EST in the top 10 – 15 ideas submitted by you. Over the course of an hour or more we make our way through the submissions, carefully assessing each one for their innovation, market potential, and feasibility. Our evaluation panel, consisting of a different community member every week as well as Quirky staff including Ben, lead the company wide discussion about which products will move forward to development. Each staff member has an opportunity to voice their opinion of a Read More...

Any cyclist will tell you that there comes a time when you need to carry something while you ride. Traditionally this has been addressed with backpacks, messenger bags, fanny packs, baskets, and panniers, all of which are big and cumbersome. What if you just want to bring a raincoat or light jacket with you? Or perhaps you don’t want your phone pinching your thigh while you’re cycling. Meet Courier, a handy pack for your bike and your back. An included bracket attaches to the seat rails underneath your bike seat, allowing you to easily clip on the soft nylon pack and secure it with the included bungee cord. Though large enough to hold your essentials, the pack’s central zipper can expand for extra spac Read More...
Denyveaus Sells, inventor of Iron Station, is a Residential Housing Contractor from Tulsa, OK who came up with a great idea for closing off balloons. Denyveaus’ 7 and 8 year old children were playing with balloons and asked him to tie them closed. Knowing his children are quite independent, he tried to teach them how to tie the balloons closed themselves and quickly realized how difficult and frustrating the children found it to be. This is when Denyveaus came up with his idea to create an easy, press-to-close, crimping tool that seals the open end of balloon. This may include a heat sealing element to ensure the balloon is welded together. Quirky looks forward to finding new ways to seal water balloons, heli Read More...

One of the biggest problems with umbrellas is that, well, they get wet. Overcoat tackles the issue of “what do you do with your wet umbrella once you get out of the rain” by adding a waterproof bag to the handle. This allows you you to seal your wet umbrella so you can stash it Read More...
Jacob Riesgaard a cable and antenna maintenance specialist from Delta Junction, Alaska on a lot of his projects in the workspace he has set up in his garage and found all of his power cords were prone to falling behind his workbenches or getting tagged. He thought it would be great if he could wrap his power cords around his workbench to keep them out of the way while leaving the outlets on the cord accessible which lead to his wrap around power strip idea submission. Quirky is excited to research this idea that can provide consumers with additional outlet convenience anywhere they would need it.
