\nsome thoughts on design: \nblocks all have to be the same thickness and level:\nHold the molds in baskets in the freezer. The baskets stack so the mold above puts plug holes in the mold below. Also put a hole in the side of the mold so when the next mold is put on top, water runs out the overflow hole ensuring exact thickness. This requires an overflow tray at the bottom, there must be a way to level the bottom tray.\n

\nMan, this one is really niche.\n\nIn any case, Im really interested in seeing what the Quirky design team comes up with for this one. My main concern would be the fact that I have somewhat hard water here, and it causes ice made from it to crack and chip really easily. I can see myself spending hours freezing 3 or 4 of these, only to have 1 or 2 just split, or break to pieces on the way out of the mold. Not to mention a luge made from this kind of kit would have much more surface area than one made from a solid block. Im curious how the design team will address these kinds of things.\n\n\n

\nI think it is a cool idea, and although your description sounds easy enough to do. It may prove more difficult for home users to implement and use as often as they may like. I make them all the time but I just go buy the large ice block and have a blast designing the twist and turns. It would be much easier then thinking of a design ahead of time and making sure I have enough of the molds made to make the luge style I want.\n
