I don't know what to make of these submissions either. The quality of the ideas took a major hit this week. SMH

People are probably (hopefully at least) waited for the $10 submission fees.. I did.

Well, where do you go but down after the boil-float-thingy?

Seriously, I was able to quickly narrow down to six, with three obvious choices to me.

Hey, friend of mine knows what I'm up to, She said she's got a great idea, and I agree. It's a great idea and I have no idea how to solve the problem. I'll see if she has $10 bucks to blow and get her to submit next week, I'll guarantee if it gets selected, this will force you to put on your thinking caps... It's a really widespread problem...

More widespread than Poomergencies?

We have a Poomergency? I need to go back and check the submissions...I didn't recall seeing one, but you know how ADD can be.

This is one of those things that I can say i'm glad I didn't think of!!! In all honesty though, based on what I'm seeing in the submissions, Quirky might need to start thinkin about Christmas presents for the people you love to embarrass the hell out of.

I liked this one:

Noseybuddiesslideno

The characters are cute and with a proper marketing this would sell like hotcakes. Its original and cheap to manufacture. We could lift this one easily out of pre-sales.

The Child sanitation market is sorta unpredictable at the moment. I work with a client that is doing something in that field, it's super cut throat, and if you want it to fly, you need licensing deals.

@Joshua: I am sure it is. Probably the same cut throat struggle going on in office supplies and most of the commodity markets.

What we really need now is a product that will actually get built, unlike the majority of the products that just sit in the pre-sale purgatory. This Nosey thing is original and really cheap to manufacture. With a low price point we should be able to pop it out of pre-sales and make it into actual production with very little investment.

Once customers can actually buy your stuff it's a lot easier to sell directly from the Q store. If it becomes a hit Q can sit down with retailers and sign the big buck deals. Or just keep it in the shop as a low risk cash-cow.

With talented marketing this could be even hyped to become a fashion article for kids to show off in the kindergarten!

Not the same struggle nearly as the office supply market.. Kids associate with brands, thus the need for licensing. You get a AirBender version of that thing and it'll sell 2m pieces it's first year. I'm not sure the viability of creating new brand recognition on a children product without supported TV/Movie recognition. I'm not just talking out of my ass here, but big picture, even getting out of presale won't do you any good if this thing sits on shelves at retail and someone with the license for spider man in the sanitary industry steals the concept and makes a spidey version.

That was my point..

Also.. Boo @ Paper Clip Dispensers.. I'm just sayin..
