Sketching

Finally got my hands on Sketching: drawing techniques for product designers. This is awesome book by Dutch authors, with literally hundreds of samples and studies of product development through sketching, different freehand techniques & tips. Highly recommended :)

I ordered that a couple of weeks ago. I cannot wait to find the time to actually read it and maybe learn something.

I think I saw that in Books-a-Million and debated it. Good to hear some thumbs up on it. May have to pick it up. If any of y'all haven't run across this site with industrial design demo videos, it's pretty cool:

Hi. I'm a newbie and have a stupid question. Can you submit a sketch after you have submitted an invention?

Yes, TLeaf, write to questions@quirky.com and ask to add the visuals, they are pretty responsive & quick on doing this.

@Imants, Thanks for this thread. Your recommendation looks like a good resource. When you get a chance look at "Mechanika: Creating the Art of Science Fiction with Doug Chiang" This a great book on sketching techniques as well. Really reasonably priced and available for Kindle for $9.99

I have had my high end art sold all over the world, advertised on TV and I now teach art to kids a few days a month. I mostly work with oil now but I have done everything.
The best stuff to work with for making drawings on Q is Crayola color pencils sold at Walmart for $1.35 drawn on cheap printer paper. Image and video hosting by TinyPic
