Talk about our stuff and the process of making that stuff.
Sales have slowed on the Space Bar. Let's give it another shove everyone. Let's see if we can raise the count again along with our other high rollers... Cloak, Switch, and Beamer!
I came to quirky a bit more recently and I wasn't even aware of the space bar until I just looked at your link
While it's not something I'm going to buy (although I'd be very happy if I received something like this as a gift), I think it's a really cool idea and it's something a lot of the newer quirky members might like to see.
I say put it back up on the front page for a few days
I find it hard to sell products which people have to wait several weeks to get. Every time I posted links to these products on facebook, twitter, etc. I got back messages asking me, Where and when can they get it? Others reply, I'm not going to commit to it now. I respond with information about pre-sales earns you influence, blah blah blah and they think about it but they don't commit.
I think I can promote these products better once they are closer to production.
Are there any sales pitches we can use? I'm not a sale guy.
Jerry, I know exactly what you mean! July 5th is so far away. I know we're fast tracking cloak, and beamer is way overdue, but I was disappointed when I saw the shipping date. On the other hand, I want this to be well made and trouble free. I still liked the light idea on the bottom front edge. Some updated pics or a video would sure revitalize the product and sales.
I know that supposedly it isn't for having your monitor on, but, is it going to be that "weak"? I can understand not suggesting it could hold up an old style tube monitor, but, it seems like it would be sturdy enough to have a flat screen sitting on top of it.
The last I've heard, it was said to be too heavy. I hope that it still maintains the strength to hold an iMac should anyone choose to use it that way.
Considering one of the mock-ups shows it with an iMac on top I should hope so. Not to mention that this was why I purchased it in the first place.
Sigh... remember me?
Just wondering if there are any updates.
Updates: We are still soliciting factory quotes for manufacturing Space Bar, which we hope to complete by June 20. Hopefully at that point, we'll be able to commence Tooling. The design timeline has been updated with more recent information!
I held the Space Bar prototype when I stopped by the Quirky shop and it was really heavy, really cool looking but heavy. The cost for shipping would be incredible so I understand the rework.
Oh, to be able to stop by Quirky headquarters. The furthest East I have made it this year was Wisconsin.
Can't wait to get my hands on the Space Bar, unfortunately it is no longer estimated to ship around my birthday :(
@Trevor... I feel your disappointment. My birthday is July 14th. ...but, better late then never!
Uh oh!! http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/keyboards-mice/e0f4/
No sweat, Josh.
These have been pointed out since my initial submission. Nice, but how much weight would it hold before the glass is stressed beyond it's breaking point? The Space Bar is powered, stronger and has six ports.
