Quick & Quirky Theme Ideas
Hey Quirks!
Get excited... we're scheduling another Quick & Quirky event for March 23!
All you newbies can read about our Quick & Quirky 24-hour throw-downs here: http://aquirkyblog.com/2009/09/from-sketch-to-store-in-24-for-the-ultimate-apple-accessory/
Our first Q&Q invited you to develop a slammin' Apple accessory to celebrate the launch of the new iPod nano. Our second coincided with the UN Climate Change conference and focused exclusively on sustainable "green" products.
For our third Quick & Quirky, we need YOUR help coming up with a creative, timely theme. Let your imaginations run wild, and post your great ideas to this thread!
Thanks,
CA Jess
P.S. Those of you who have been tracking this event may notice that we pushed it back a week. Our apologies -- we wanted to focus on shipping out those Cordies and Scratch-n-Scrolls before we tackled another Q&Q!

I agree with Kim above... no more winter ideas.. please! : )
I googled a national month's calendar to get some ideas. After a quick look, the following themes jump out for me:
March: National Athletic Training Month (new sports accessory ideas)
March: National Girl Scout Week (kidding - - I just want some girl scout cookies)
April: March for Babies (submit baby/kid product ideas)
April: National Garden Month (new gardening products)
April: Pet Owner's Day (new pet products)

Let's do something playful. I would love us to design some sort of toy product (particularly one that can be taken outdoors as it gets nicer up here in the Northeast. . .no offense to Frosty Faces :)). After all, we've got a whole tab for "Toys" under the "Awesome Products for Sale" space on the main page. Let's fill it up!

I second Austin's idea about Spring Break and Fred's idea about something playful - some kind of new Quirky college campus outdoorsy type game would fit the bill for both of those ideas - perhaps something college kids can take with them to the beach on Spring Break
Move over Frisbee and Hula Hoops - here comes Quirky! :)

How about something specifically dealing with Quirky brand awareness
a lets get the Q out campaign for Spring/Summer
maybe designing hats, shirts, something (somebody please come up with something Quirkier then that, my brain is blank)
but, nonetheless lets get the Q out

i am also down with the summer / spring theme.
a pool or beach toy / accessory would be cool.
i think sports would be boring unless we made up our own.

Cabin Fever appears to be rampant.
Outside activities...
Get off the couch or get away from the computer and have some "outdoor" fun.
No food or drink items. No camping tools, no sunglass holders.
No antisocial use of iPods, iPads, cell phones or laptops!
Something that requires at least two people to take part in.
Let's get physical!

The soccer world cup, which is is the most widely-viewed sporting event in the world, is coming up in june.
We could come up with a product for all the excited soccer fans worldwide!
(we would have to be on time though, which might be the problem with a summer product, too. If it takes as long as the beamer and scratch-n-scroll to be produced, we might not be on time)

Pet Products, huge industry.
Florian, I cosign with the world cup, it is huge, if we could come up with the next hot noisemaker for fans to play with during games. Think thundersticks.

I second Michael K's Idea. We need to get people to know Quirky!

1: Toys: We need more toys for sale on the site.....would be nice to see what people could come up with in this area.
2: Lighting: The ultimate lighting fixture. Stylish and creative. We need more home furnishings
3: Pets: Tap into the pet market with a hip and or innovative product.
4: Deck and Patio: Something for those days and nights spent outside with the family on the back deck. Spring is almost here.
5: Personal Wear: Something innovative and Quirky that can be worn and show personaity/creativity

Great research, Sandra! I'm particularly intrigued by the sports idea... we haven't really done anything in that arena.
Also, I just noticed the ridiculous number of exclamation points I included in my post. Can you tell we're excited?!
