When is the best time to submit?

Now that the new submissions go live immediately and scroll "infinitely", it seems like timing could make a huge difference in how many votes you get.

When is the best time to submit a new idea and when are the most people active/online?

I was wondering this myself, I recently submitted the MisterBrush idea and before I knew it, it was at the bottom rung. I posted at night and I am thinking mid afternoon may have gotten me more exposure. If you get any solid info I would love to hear it. Thank you

I was contemplating the same thing, and just submitted my idea this morning (early Saturday morning). It's doing really well so far, still second under most active, fingers crossed. My thinking was that a.) if it really is a good idea, I want to put it on when the most people have an opportunity to view it and b.) the downside to that is there are probably going to be a lot of submissions at those times too. I figure that Saturday everybody is off work, ready to do some Quirkying, so why not put it on then. There were a lot of submissions today, but also a lot of people that got to see my idea. I think early evenings would be a good time as well.

Also, I think having a good visual is VERY key

I posted my submission at 8pm...within 24 hours they had 85 more, hence I got bumped down the list. Sure you can short..but for a new submission member they need time to check the site out and get the feel of things. So I'm not sure if the time of day effects submission listings.

Someone mentioned a filter instead of "random" might be "expiring" or "oldest" that way someone looking to comment might be able to give the ideas that were ready to end a second look. I know I'd use it.

Paying attention to the introduction is just as important as good visuals. I find I'm looking at the tittle and skipping those that don't hook me because there are so many. I've been surprised when I have taken another look that the product wasn't what it appreared to be at first glance and usually much more interestingl

there is no good time. All ideas expire after your idea gets pushed to the bottom oh after 1 day.

I don't think there can actually be a good time. As we all know, a ahhha moment can strike at any time plus there is that whole time zone thing. I guess that would put the east coast to have a better opportunity for idea viewage or would that make it worst, as more people now have the opportunity to post ideas over yours??? Uh-oh!

Thanks for all the feedback! I haven't submitted enough ideas to fully assess, but there doesn't seem to be any guarantee on timing. I'm guessing that mid-day or afternoon is better, but it all depends on how busy people are on any given day. I might spend an hour going through all the ideas on one day and then not have time to look for another two days.

Good to know Quirky is listening to our concerns. They've added an Ending Soon feature which replaced Random. Much needed.

I am bumping this thread since it is a few months old and there have been a lot of changes on the website since then. Currently, what do you think is the best time to submit? I am a newbie and just posted my first ideas this week. However, I am wondering if I should have chosen a different time. The ones I posted late at night seemed to get buried by the next morning. What do you think? Is late evening a bad time to post?

I think this site needs a better mechanism for getting exposure for serious ideas. My idea had 5 votes in the first 30 minutes and none after. I would pay some nominal fee for additional exposure, but my only option is to hope that people have a look at the end of my 30 days

Bottom line... The best time to post is when you have a good idea. If its a good idea it will bubble up.

I posted an idea last week or so and it was covered by 50 other ideas and I still got 40 votes in 3 days

I think instead of "Most Active" they need to have an option to sort by "Most Popular". You can have a really good product that has lots of fast votes and comments that gets buried under some brand new idea that gets a couple comments and because yours sat without activity for a while it gets dropped down to where no one can find it. I listed an idea that received way over 100 votes in the first two days. It has dropped down to No Mans Land now because everyone above it had problems that people kept commenting on offering fixes etc. A couple of the products ahead of me are exact copies of other products and they are only more active because people keep making comments pointing that out. I know they are not getting the votes I have. Now that I am invisible I get no activity.
