They said no :(

Just wanted to say thank you so much to all the people who voted on my gate idea. I was really hoping this was going to be the one, but no go. I appreciate all the positive feedback and help from all of you! Here is what they said to me in there feedback, I figured you all helped try to get this through, that you should see the reasons why:
Quirky definitely thought this was interesting and the design team was pushing for it to move forward. However the biggest thing that we could not find a way to avoid is this would be a huge safety issue. There are a lot of concerned parents who would either not bother buying this because they have brand loyalty with another well known baby product company or who can sue us if anything goes wrong. We would need to find a vendor with experience in baby gates to leverage their knowledge and ensure they are aware of the quality level required by regulations. These are used to keep babies from falling down stairs, and we would have to come up with something that can constrain them without a shadow of a doubt. We also have to worry about moving parts and kids getting their fingers caught. Similar products do exist but there is still room for improvement regarding aesthetics and ease of use. However, this would still be a very competitive market. We would have to worry about merchandising because that would be a big concern. We came close to doing it but we are a young company that cannot afford recalls and legal suits. Good luck with your other ideas, this one was close maybe the next one will make it all of the way through!

This will only make me try harder for the next time!
XOXOXOX

Me too! I was shocked...I thought it was going to get picked for sure! I think they are wrong with this one....maybe they will look back and pick it later on :)

Maybe market it as only a dog gate?

I asked that, but they are afraid people will use it as a baby gate.

Oh boy...I don't think you should stop with this. Maybe you can submit it somewhere else. I thought it was a great idea.

At least you got a response from them. I worked my ass off on my idea, had my hopes up for a month, got nothing but positive feedback and votes . . . then Quirky didn't even bother to send me a response - not even a sentence - telling me WHY they didn't pick it. Oh well, who needs this wack company? They don't even have a solid business model, as it changes every few weeks. I will go on my own, and I will bring this product to market . . . in SPITE of Quirky. Thanks!

It's funny they are worried about safety issues, but they are not worried about making a collapsible helmet?

Guess they're not worried about safety issues this month!
