I would really like it if I could just get a simple number to pop up next to my name to show me if someone has replied to a comment I posted, commented on an idea I submitted, sent me a direct message, or voted on my product.

Just like facebook notifies you on the top bar, I think that would be a really helpful feature in staying active on the site. It is hard to follow all of the comments and votes without some stream of updates to go with our "latest activity"

anyone agree?

I just joined this wonderful adventure, I too would really like to know if someone has responded to my comments. I am planning on being very active and will be submitting items soon. It would really add to the community.

Could this be worked in?

Is this is just a minor quirk in quirky, or do I need to change an account setting. Right now I have to go and look through all my past activity to see if there is any new response or development.

Here's an update (most of you probably already know). I have recieved an email concerning a responce on another post of mine. Perhaps that only goes to the orininator. I have not been very involved in forum communities in the past. Is this just the way it is? (In other forums as well?)

I agree too. It seems like a lot of us would be able to follow the discussions going on with our product ideas or other ideas that we want to follow...

The proper place to complain is in the Support/Feedback forum (Get Satisfaction or GS for short).

Here is a related link there: http://support.quirky.com/quirky/topics/notification_of_votes_and_subscribe_to_comments

On a related note. A candidate to be Head of Community started a poll on how to improve the forums, please head over and keep it up: http://www.quirky.com/forums/topic/7515

If you read the comments in this ideation, you will see that this is a perfect example of why we need what Jeff Becker suggests in his post.

Quirky wants us to collaborate - why not give us the tools to do so?

Hi simplyinclined,

I don't know why the link I posted keeps going to that page. I checked it in edit and it keeps automatically putting in "no follow" in the a href. Weird.

At any rate, how were you supposed to know that that guy asked you a question? Are we just supposed to spend our time going back to see if anyone answered us? Our time is precious. Why can't a simple notification system be installed?

Quirky can "get" new members, but at this rate, retention is going downhill. So many startup companies fail within the first few years. I hope that Quirky can "see" the urgency of fixing the many site/procedural issues.

:/
