NEWBIES! Welcome! ...And How Did You Find Us?

Hi Everybody! Hope you are having a good time exploring Quirky and the forums. We are interested in knowing what brought you here. Do you have a good story? Do tell.... What has this process been like for you? The record-breaking "Tsunami of Ideas" has pointed out that we may need to reorganize some of the information for newcomers to have quicker and better access to the workings of the Q culture. What changes to the "on-boarding" process would be beneficial to you, and what have been your impressions? Thanks for you input, so we can improve this process for everyone.

I personally have really enjoyed meeting some of the new people this week and am glad to see they are making themselves at home in the forums! Always good to have a fresh point of view, keeps me young.

I Stumbled Upon Quirky when I heard about their new "Space Bar" Product.

And since I was Homeless, I needed a place to get-in-out-of-the-Cold.

Somebody turn up the Heat, and please pass the BBQ Chicken I'm Starved....(grin)

Elizabeth, I saw it on yahoo and watched the associated video. I was defiantly inspired by it and immediately came to the website. I checked out how everything worked and read some forum posts to see if people who had been on here a while were happy with how everything operated and if quirky's decisions were based more on votes or on your idea. I googled some random phrases to see if anyone was talking about being burned by quirky. I then decided to post my idea. Certain things could have been a little better with that, (i.e. specifying image type, size ect). Over all I thought it went pretty smooth. When I finally posted my excitement turned to dismay when I realized my idea had been swept away in the tsunami. In shock I went around "pimping" my idea on other peoples idea. From further reading in the forums I concluded that was not the way to go. So now I guess I'm riding the wave with everyone else trying to think of creative ways to bring attention to my ideas or improve the way quirky operates.

I can also say that the established folks in the forum have been extremely accommodating and helpful despite the flood gates opening up.

Rick: I think you should submit "Space Bar" in the naming competition for the Quirky Lounge.

Mr. Mills above hit it right on the head. Pretty much my story, from yahoo to dismay about the flood of entries. A very welcoming bunch of people here, a few in particular I could see us in the local bar knocking back shots! Just a good ole time! *downs beer* Now who's up for KARAOKE!!!!

I saw you guys on Bill Weirs Yahoo report. Can you just make it $1 to submit. I'm gonna go broke with all the ideas I got coming up...kinda kidding, kinda.

In that story, Mr. Q mentioned that they select two ideas a week or something like that. It would be nice to have a page that shows which two ideas are selected for the week or does that already exist and I can't find it?

Mo, we find out every week by email. You can read back on the blog, too. It is at the bottom of the page on the right.

Happy New Year! Found this place by accident. I've been an inventor for a while now and have a few products on the market. One thing I'd change about this site is to have a dedicated team of a few people review all submissions prior to them being posted. Not to judge them but to do a quick google search to determine if the product is already on the market. I'd also suggest upping the entry fee to attract more serious inventors.

I found Quirky on the Sundance Channel.****I am guessing they make a lot of money off of the $10 submissions...and they just might come across the next "Eggie's" idea. There are lot of lower income people who want to live out their dream and can't afford to invest in "Davison" type company. I love Quirky for this...I agree with Steven about them doing a search for people's idea. that might help a lot.

Guess I am not so new anymore but, I found out about Q through the show on Sundance. I quickly realized this was for ME and 1 hour later submitted my first invention.

It has been a blast ever since!!!
