Think about it..you have thousands of newbies coming on board ..they are suppose to know that the "pimping zone" is where they are suppose to promote product their ideas ?

You want people to stop spamming in other threads then you can start by changing the "pimping zone" to the Promote Your Idea zone.. and add subtitles to the Forum Categories..so you can actually EXPLAIN what is acceptable in each Category.

Many vice units work to ascertain if the prostitute they have arrested has a pimp, and if so they pressure them to provide information about their pimp and the gang involved. Ok, I am a newbie and already had to remove a post because in the wrong place. I was not promoting my idea but hoping to help a fellow quircky member with what i believe is a great product. I'm still not sure it's in the right area in the forum. It sure would have been easier to just post it under "promote an idea". I'm finding there are so many ideas that just in a day some of the good ones are already so far down when scrolling, it takes forever to find possible good ideas. I wish quircky would post concepts by day and each day have a seperate scroll or at least by week. 30 days has a LOT of ideas to sift through. I think it's hurting Quircky's intent to vote on concepts when they get buried.

Dan, I'm with you on this. I avoid using the term as much as possible.

@Dan: it is not the best word, but it seemed to form organically. And pimping (in the forums) began to be distinguished from the direct messages that folks were getting in their inboxes (THAT is referred to as spamming in here).

So I think culturally, pimping and spamming mean two different things in Quirky.

By the way, I coined the term Spimping to mean to mean a combination of the two. Yes, I'm a term-coiner....a toiner...I coined that, too. And now I'm Spimping my terms..sometimes called Sperming.
