is the "most active" link broken?
Friday all day and into Saturday ay noon the same inventions have been stuck. They usually rre-order even if slightly and nothing has budges for over 24 hours. seems odd. who do we call to get this fixed?

Stazy
This weekend I am sharing Jesse's frustration - I've just added to the support thread:
.
The 'most active logic' freezes at 6pm every Friday. Any entries within the last couple of hours that can gain a few comments and/or votes before the freeze, will be promoted to the top of the most active tab. Activity on new submissions effectively has a multiplier that makes it count more than activity on older entries. The ones that that are at the top when the logic freezes remain on the top ALL WEEKEND. Half decent ideas will gather more comments and votes to the point where, on Monday morning, they will remain at the top of the list because they now have significantly more 'activity' than the fresh new ideas... even with the 'new listing' multiplier factored in.
This obviously isn't right or proper in anyway and needs to be fixed. This has happened for the last four weekends, every weekend since I have been here. I have seen it written about on the forums and I am amazed that it still happens.
On that thread there is a suggestion that Quirky staff activity reviewing submissions actually influences the 'most active' tab directly. Perhaps that's it and there are no multipliers or vote/comment counts. They really are beavering away every week, to a degree that the whole system looks normal until the session bell goes on Friday night!!
SI: Maybe that means the best time to submit is about 4pm on a Friday, LOL.
Hey, I started that thread! :-)
Martin, thanks for the reply there... kind of figured it was flawed which is why I posted the question. Doesn't seem quite fair...its rather quirky if you ask me.
Steve - sorry I hadn't noticed it was your thread. (shame the avatars don't persist in support). Did you ever have anything firm that it was QS influenced?
I think the real question here is has it ever really "worked", and what triggers it? View, votes, un-votes, comments, staff attention? Who knows? Secret recipe needs revising. Most active is giving a false and unfair advantage to the ideas stuck in it's web.
It was working last week but I am sure Quirky has cut it off to ensure that ideas are read and to cut down on the number of members getting influence just by voting on the top few ideas
Quirky should shuffle the most active list order every hour so different ideas are near the top, middle or bottom randomly when the most active tab is sleceted. From what I understand it is not a true respresentation of what is number 1 through 999 anyway. This will ensure all of the most active ideas are viewed and eliminate the concern.
Respectfully,
NitroClad
