Just sit and wait?

So I've posted two idea on here. One of them got tons of votes, the other one got few votes. But on both, people seem to really like the idea, based on the comments left behind. Now what? I've posted link in the Pimping Zone, I've posted links on a couple of Quirky related Facebook pages too.

I don't have lots of friends or family that have any interest in invention and they aren't too supportive of me in general. So, that means I don't have people to share links with, to my ideas.

So, now I just wait out the thirty days and see what happens?

A lot of people on here speculate that the number of votes don't really matter. So, why put effort towards promoting my idea and getting more votes if the vote don't matter. I bet you, even if a product has few votes and the Quirky team likes it and see potential, the idea may still become successful.

Even though I have plenty of time left on my ideas, I feel as if I've already lost the battle.

Perhaps the next stage for me will be to focus on earning influence. This, it seems, is where the voting matters. If I don't vote because I want the idea to be picked, I may as well vote to earn influence, just in case if the idea gets picked, right?

Do comments themselves, in any area, earn influence?

Lastly, I've been on here for about three weeks now and I've learned to tread lightly. All everyone on here wants, is votes and positive comments. Non-votes and more negative or critical comments will only get you the same. This seems like a broken system.

What is next?

These are questions we all have. I guess we just got to ride it out and see what happens

It seems having a positive attitude on here, will get you further than having a good idea. Wouldn't you agree? At least that's the impression I'm getting so far.

I'm in the same boat as you, although my 30 days has ended. I thought I would at least receive a final score & since I haven't should I think that Q didn't look at it yet?

Yeah, I'm curious about that final score. It sounds like it's never established, huh?

I think we all would like them to have some way of saying they have seen it and it was not moved into consideration. 30 days is a long wait especially after the first few days as comments just die and nothing much happens.

The final score is from the old system. It was done away with but they have not removed it from the website yet.

Thanks mark. Good to know that. I keep on looking at my final score icon, getting excited for it to show something once my idea ends.

It was no big deal anyway it was just a random number no real info. You would see say a 11 but no explanation of what a 11 is? Good? Bad? Who knows? I remember waiting on it also sorry to disappoint:(

My theory is that voting and commenting carries some influence as far as which ideas receive more scrutiny by the staff, but the final decision on each submission is made based upon whether the invention is feasible, marketable, affordable, and appealing to consumers. Someone could get all his friends to vote for his invention, but if the staff doesn't think it will sell they aren't going to select it based solely on how many votes it received. Consequently, if the staff believes an idea to be a good one and worthy of moving forward on, they might pick it even if it received few votes. The staff reviews each submission at least once regardless of how many votes it has, and I'm certain they have a system in place to keep track of the good ideas. The end objective is to produce goods that will make a profit.

So after 30 days, you can pretty much assume your idea was a bust, and move on, right?

I don't really get the influence thing, either.

After 30 days, I assume my idea wasn't seen by the right staff member, so I resubmit -ha.

Anybody who thinks the system is based on how good the product idea is, is mistaken.
Baruch is right.
Unfortunately, the staff is mistaken...they still use the results of the vote as if it tells them what we think of the product idea.

At this point, I'd guess that votes don't have much impact unless the make the staff sit up and take notice - which is probably at the 500 vote level or higher.
(Not that I'm suggesting it, but people pay for votes, join "contest" groups, and do all kinds of stuff secretly.)

(OK. What drives me nuts? Somebody will pay for 500 votes, and the staff will say, "Oh, 500 people like that product idea...we better make it.")

Quirky is just a step, albeit a new step, in the process of invention now. You submit it, and move on. Just keep working. Keep trying to get in touch with other people about it. Don't put all your eggs in the quirky basket. Never put all of your eggs in anyone's basket until they are all in like you :)
