I just tested this by posting a few times, and after 3 or 4 of the same comment, they gave me a "type these words box" to make sure I was human... I guess that's the first line of defense.

I have gotten that before, too. Gates, you can report people for doing that, if you notice it a lot. Questions@quirky.com, or you can use the thumbs down beside the comment. If you get too many of those, Quirky steps in.

It is frustrating too because it seems like a lot of these people end up getting a lot of activity. There are others who play by the rules and end up getting less activity.

This should fall under the HOC ? to either take care of these or to get moderators to handle spam ..plenty of volunteers wouldn't really cost Quirky anything..maybe a stipend of some sort.

If Quirky is trying to develop a community site then let the community help police.

That practice should be banned outright. It is annoying and by the looks of it these people are copying and pasting and have no real input to give. Can't trust if they actually like your idea or if they are just looking for a vote.

I just read an apology by one of the people who was cutting and pasting the same comment on multiple ideas. He is brand new to Quirky and he honestly did not know what he was doing was frowned upon. I have read some of his other posts and he has contributed some good comments to Quirky. He states that he has read about the appropriate forms of advertisements and from this point forward he will post his ideas only in the Pimping forum. His apology seems very sincere and his idea is a good one. I am a newbie too and I know it can be hard to learn all of the official and unofficial rules. I am still learning! So, maybe we can forgive him? You can check out his apology on the comment section of his idea. It was posted on 1/24.

I myself am to blame, I did participate in spamming. But I have since stopped after learning it wasn't acceptable, and I am making my way through deleting my posts(leaving the compliment part of the post). This was my first idea ever submitted and didn't know how to advertise. I am learning quickly though, and focusing on the pimping zone and facebook. I am sorry if I offended anyone and you have my guarantee that it won't happen again.

Trevor-I am fairly new here too so I completely understand not knowing all of the rules. I am learning more about this process every day. I think most people here will see your apology and know that you did not mean any harm. I accepted your apology and I think most people will see how sincere you are being about it. Also, you definitely should be excited about your product. In my opinion, it is a great idea. I voted for it.

If you want to get back at people who do this, just do the following. Go to their page and post a statement that all who come there should withhold their vote because the author engages in this unseemly practice of going around, begging for votes. If a couple of people do that this practice will stop.
