This is a very sticky situation. I would imagine that everyone who submits an idea, sincerely thinks that it's a good idea. And they are hoping to get support from everyone. Also, who is to judge that one idea is better than the other? I think that's a matter of opinion. Like, art. Some people look at a heap of trash as art. Some people look at it as trash.
But, to support your objective.. There are some idea that like you say, aren't feasible. Those ideas that would cost more than $150, aren't a consumer product, have integrated software and so on. There should be a way to move those to a different section. It would be nice to get rid of them completely, but just putting the out of easy view would be okay. I believe that a bad idea can inspire creativity and cause a good idea to come from it. So I don't support removing the bad/unfeasible ideas from the site completely.

FYI: There is no $150 limit anymore. Changed about a month ago.

One can start all ideas at level 0, when someone reviews it the level can be pushed up or down. Cream will rise to the top, etc...

There are no bad ideas. Lets just eliminate using our heads altogether.

Vicky, you're right. There are no bad ideas. Just like, one man's trash is another man's treasure. But, there are ideas that aren't suitable for Quirky. That's my opinion. :)

I agree Vicky. If you got $10 and an idea, please put it up. I just want to eliminate some that just don't make sense a little faster. When somebody submits a cure for cancer, which I actually seen on Q in the last couple of weeks and that pushes an actual viable idea further down the list so fewer people see it, then I have a problem. We could eliminate ideas that don't make sense for Q and keep the viable ones in the spotlight a little longer. That would give the community more of a chance to comment and improve on the "good" ideas. Seriously, after the first 3 days the views of your idea goes way down.

Hi Jay, how will we figure out bad idea? If we can't see how many vote that idea had.

@ Vicky. I have been on Q for about a month and I love it! The concept is awesome. To have an outlet where you can take an idea and in a few months it could be on store shelves is so cool. And only for $10. Just looking for ways to improve the whole process. The community polices not viable ideas by not voting for them now. A more direct way of doing that policing would be to vote "Not Viable". Obviously Q is doing something right, so they can take my suggestions or not, but it is a good thing we can open a dialog on improving Q.

'Who should police the bad ideas?' I think it is called "Citizen's arrest."

Jay Alger, there is no way to figure out beforehand what's a good idea or a bad idea. Besides, you would be attempting to out guess Quirky's method of selecting winning ideas. I mean, who would have ever thought a pair of boxer briefs with urine pockets would have been a good idea? But it apparently is.

@papajim, and a death ring, a Tiger temperature taker thingy and....
papajim | 01/31/2012 | 08:43 AM
Yes, who would have thought?

I guess we can add glow in the dark stickers now? -seriously?
