How many votes is good?

I realize that there is probably no hard and fast rule for how many votes it takes to move a product to the next stage, but can anyone that has had a product get considered comment on what is considered a lot of votes? Are we talking about tens, hundreds, thousands?

And to add a shameless plug please check out my submissions!

Votes do not count alone, they are just part of the data....You can win with zero votes and lose with 400....

Like Ken said, it doesn't matter how many votes you have. If Quirky finds an interesting market for your idea, they will pursue.

so less people votes for winning idea the more portions of % inventor will get, right..

jeeb, i think you almost nailed it...almost. the less votes for a wininng idea means more influence to each of the voters. also, the less comments on a winning idea means more influence to each of the commentors. there is a set percentage given out, so the less people involved, THE BIGGER THE SLICE OF PIE EACH PERSON GETS.

kinda ironic...you would intuitively think the more comments and more votes would be better. but that applies to the inventor only. less comments and less voting creates a better situation for the commentors and voters

leigh,

What about the "bubbling up" that Ben wants the community to do? Do we toss that aside now?

This was really helpful! Thanks for the info even though I didn't make this post!

It's really tough to say. Obviously lots of votes is nice, but I think another important factor is the number of votes relative to the number of views. For example if only 20 people look at your submission, 10 votes is probably quite good. I don't know if Quirky takes this into account but it's fresh on my mind since I have a product currently in the running that hasn't generated what I consider to be many views, but has a very strong ratio of votes relative to the number of views.

Is this really possible? Scenarios:

• 50 page views, 2 votes, quirky accepts and produces it.
• 250 page views, 120 votes, quirky rejects idea.

is there anybody whose idea got "Under consideration"? Could you please share how many votes your idea got for that [UC] status?

My first idea I posted on Quirky when I joined got only 108 views, 21 votes, and 8 comments, but was in UC just a few days after I posted it. They however did not use the idea and it was still rejected. Still cool to get UC I spose. Makes me think votes really don't matter in the long run if the idea is worth their attention... Just make it a good idea and let it catch if it's gonna.

If they don't use it, I'd suggest moving on to other sites like this and try there, or directly submit to companies in the proper departments. Even the largest have ways to get your input to them. For example I sent in an idea to Ford years back, all I needed was to have them send me the proper paperwork to make it legal before they would even look at it.

I was wondering the same thing currently have something with 138views and 85votes trying to determine if I should pay a graphic designer to do a render of a prototype or just wait and see..
