Mini Mantis

When did this product get chosen? I received plenty of .000001% influence today for this product but I don't remember seeing it in the "Chosen" ideas.

I think it's a great idea but was wondering the same thing. I don't think it even went into UC. I am assuming they wanted to get started on it right away since they know that Mantis was successful :)

It should be a line extension, I for one am not happy about this.....

Congrats Evonne, nothing personal:) But this is not fair at all!

I think that I voted for it under "ending soon" a few days ago.

I'm sure it'll end up nothing like Mantis.

It definitely won't have such a cool name ;^)

@Zymie if it is completely different is one thing, but if not.......

Congrats to Evonne...did not see this product in U C as of late last night. I thought this week's choices were to be announced next Monday! Clearly Quirky is living up to its name today:)!

@Ken I couldn't agree with you more. There is no clarity between what is a new product and what is a line extension.

Evonne was kind enough to ask for my permission, so I knew she might submit this.
I didn't ever see the submission, though.
It will be interesting to see what they do with the influence when there is no innovation.

(I didn't think she needed my permission and I was trying to avoid the "Clinton said it is OK with him" thing. So I told her I wouldn't say OK, but I wouldn't oppose it either - and encouraged her to add innovation. ha)

This is an oblique example of the harm the QDS does to the purpose of Quirky by discarding the inventor's product idea and developing their own*.

When the QDS comes up with their own innovations, they risk locking out any future inventors who happen to come to Quirky with those same ideas - making invention not accessible to them...and that harms Quirky's purpose.

For example, if the QDS had refined my invention instead of adding their own innovations, Evonne's submission would have been an obviously different product idea.
She would not have been unsure about submitting, her submission would have been greeted with open arms rather than frustration, and there would be no question about her "inventorship" or influence...there would have been no risk of locking her out.

*What is the purpose of Quirky?
- Make the best product possible?
- Sell the most products possible?
- Make invention accessible?
Answer: Make invention accessible. While the other two are necessary to do that, they must not replace it.

Congrats Evonne and so on, but this is really confusing. Isn't it a line extension?

I'll go ahead and start a GS topic to see if it's a line extension.
