15 Votes A Day To Gamble

Q needs to make voting fun and combine it with rewards

What if we could gamble with daily votes like chips to play at a roulette table?

We each get 15 daily votes that expire within 24 hours.

Some can spread these votes around to hedge their bets. Some can put all 15 votes one idea that is most popular (like choosing red or black/good odds but low payout)

Other could play longshots in hopes of hitting the jackpot.

The point is you place your votes where you want them, all 15 daily votes one one idea even if you want to.

Quirky could reserve extra influence/Quirky bucks/Products or prizes for top daily, weekly, monthly voters.

A ticker could announce big influence winners like a casino slot machine.

Gambling is addictive. People flock where there are BIG rewards. 24 hour vote countdown create fun tension. It is all free money so no one gets hurt.

With almost 200,000 active players, even large payouts will be pennies on the thousand!

The capacity to put multiple vote points on any given idea brings value to a vote.
-

If I have daily 15 total vote points to play and place:
-

5 Vote points on Underwater Speaker
3 Vote points on Telescopic Rake
3 Vote points on Solar Plate
2 Vote points on Bubble Umbrella
1 Vote point on GPS Dog Collar
1 Vote point on Dancing Toy Box
-----

Total 6 ideas voted. Your maximum 15 Daily Vote Points have been played!

----

Underwater Speaker has more value to me than Dancing toy box.

And if either idea wins, the point value I placed becomes the first multiplier that determines my winning influence.

EX:
-
I place 5 vote points on Underwater Speaker. Underwater Speaker wins. I stand to gain 5x more influence than all other members who placed only 1 vote point on the idea. But my total influence will return 3x less than someone who places the maximum 15 vote points on it.
--

The point of this system is to not only bring fun, strategy and daily challenge to the vote process, it is to bring weight to every vote.

Let's show HOW much we like an idea with a vote point system that also influences how much we stand to gain.

That sounds like fun Jason.

Thanks DQ. Perhaps it would make more sense to drop the maximum for any one idea to 5 vote points?

That way if a group of new members come on the site, each drop 5 vote points on the same friends idea, and then leave without ever using their remaining 10 daily vote points, then Q can more easily determine nepotist votes.

The "Q" should go back to the old way of voting, so people can understand why they received the amount of influence they received. I understood the old way a lot better than this way. I have tried many ways to gain influence, it all comes out the same. Now I will see what the 15 a day turns out. More trial and error for the community to go through.
Thumbs ups for trying to cheer up the community with games, I like games; however it will not fix the problems when it comes to influence, manufacturing and marketing good ideas. Too many ideas in limbo and not enough making the community money. My opinion on the bottom line.

Hopefully, more gains for more people soon.

What do you think of having 15 daily vote points to use rather than 15 individual votes?
--

If there are 100 submissions a day, and there are only 5 ideas I believe in why should I vote for more? I would like a way to show how much I believe in an idea and be rewarded acording to the value I give to it.

Forget rating system. Make each individual vote gradable and make the reward equal to the value of your vote.

This could turn into a cool livestream show with Rob hosting the days entries and we allot our 5-15 votes for the ideas daily. It could become must see webtv. That and to see if he shaved or not. :)

Or at least a weekly show!

And those weekly influence points suddenly now would have some kind of purpose. Give prizes to the top weekly voters who gained the most influence points from voting in ideation rounds.

Give away weekly prizes for best VOTING performances and suddenly people have a decent reason to vote honestly rather than just for the sake of a friend.

Also not just a free breakfast at Denny's. Use some of the submission fund for big rewards. THe bigger the reward for particpation and accurate voting the more people will study ideas and vote the best they can.

OOh this is getting good. You know all those tv shows where the audience has buttons or controls at their seats? Well our buttons ARE ON OUR COMPUTERS! If they could rig it up for our live votes to show up in NYC on camera that would be hella cool and interactive. This is the type of thing that would differntiate Quirky from the rest and make it fun and make it stand out and steer it in its own ENTERTAINMENT ORIENTED socially product developed dead puppies owing 10% genre.

It would be tempting to make the daily voting relevant to daily ideas with this too.

Daily votes expire as do daily ideas. (unless selected for UC)

-

So voters use a new 15 point system to try and win huge prizes (funded by our own idea submission fund)

-Announce daily, weekly winners with fun, entertaining, interactive webshow that will have us glued to computers

-

Watch Q membership grow like wildfire. Nepotism will be minimized because your valuable votes can now bring YOU personal reward (screw Uncle Bill's glowing shovel idea I wanna new fridge!)

I can totally see Rob going Vanna on our asses showcasing Fridges and ceramic dead puppies owing 10%.
This has alot of potential Jason!
Either a show where we use our votes to put ideas into UC and it shows up immediately. Or we vote, for the ones already put in UC.

Let's dot it!

The thing too is the idea submission pool would grow as the voting pool would grow too. People come to vote for the prizes, word of mouth spreads and more people take a stab at inventing. Both systems contribute to making each other grow.
-

So more submitted ideas = more $ for even bigger weekly prize rewards for voter participation = large voting pool with more honest voting = better market data = better market prognostication = better Quirky products = mucho moola for us!

Why can't we ever find a marketing guru when we need em?

How about this... besides the 15 votes per day, everyone gets to keep a continuous Top 15 List where they keep continuously ranking ideations from 1-15.
.
When an item in their top 15 gets picked up UC they get influence based upon the rank they ranked it compared with everyone else that had it in their top 15.
.
You do not have to use the entire top 15. If someone wants to really bet hard they could only vote on say their top 5 leaving 6-15 slots open - then their influence will be weighted higher based upon the less votes.
.

Influence can be distributed as follows:
.
Everyone that had 15 ideas voted as their #1 which gets picked UC - they all get the same influence;
everyone that had that idea and voted it #2 gets the same;
...everyone that had it voted it #9 gets the same etc.- but each less than those that voted it as #1,
Further, all those that only had say top 5 voted, get more influence because they made bigger bets on a weighted basis...
PLUS...
Quirky gets better information with this weighted ranking of each item.
