yeah
drop the 10% thing
Does 10% apply to the outcome (final product renderings) or the initial idea, or both? For example, if you make Hooks-on-a-roll elsewhere do you need to pay 10% to Quirky, or only in the case when you reproduce Links?
Who the hell knows. Thus they need to drop it cuz it's giving me a headache. And I'm not very nice when I get a headache and have to fork over 10%! (insert incredible hulk video here)
@Dafni
If your idea is picked at Quirky and then 9 months later they blow the dust off it and give it back to you, they then want 10% if you do anything with it and make money. That is ridiculous. Edison Nation and Genius Crowds don't do this. If they give up on an idea it just reverts back to the inventor. PERIOD.
Q never mentioned that in the intro..Or did they?
I never watched the intro or extro or halftime.
..So when you submit you have a 30 day window to keep or take your idea somewhere else and after that we would have to pay 10% ..
Dafni, I think its just if they pick your idea. The 10% may equate to Q getting 10% of what you get somewhere else. Not sure.
Maybe instead of the 10% royality, Quirky should just sell the rights back to inventor for a one time fee that is payable by 12 monthly payments
I added my 2 cents! I adamantly think this 10% exit penalty stinks! It may be legal but it's just plain morally wrong. Its kicking a person when they are already down.
Thanks Charles!
I actually got a product back from Genius Crowds that they decided not to persue and they gave me renders, pictures of prototypes they did, etc and that was the end. And that's how it should be. Edison Nation does the same from what I hear too. Its as if Q still wants to have a hook in the idea that they couldn't get off the ground, just in case it does take off elsewhere...and that is just wrong. It should be yes and Q goes forward or no, here is your idea back. Period. The End.
