Ratio of votes to number of views

What's a good ratio of votes received to number of idea views?

1:0 (Remember that people have to click on the submission for it to count so you don't really know how many people just expanded the idea).

Depends on who's asking.
.
The Inventor would say I'd like at least 50%.
.
While Quirky may think *IF* its such a GREAT Idea - why not 80% of views.
.
This opens up a whole new can of *worms* - personaly I think its a good Tool for the inventor.
.
Only Time will tell.

@jason Did you mean votes views comments in order? If not, how do you get more votes than views?

Probably since they just implemented this feature. I have one with 11you views 104 votes. Even though this might still have bugs I think this feature is great!

Maybe we can ask Nathaniel to explain it.

Nitroclad,

Yes that is is the order Views, Votes, Comments.

I think because people are voting without clicking or reading the pitch.

In Q's post, they stated that the views are calculated when someone actually clicks and opens the idea. Remember that people can vote without opening the idea so therefore votes will be higher than views.

How can there be more comments then views? Don't you have to view the product to comment? I went back & looked at my last submission and there were 9 unique comments & only 4 views...?

People are voting from the main scrolling page based on number of comments. Vote with your gut feelings.......if you like the product idea, vote, if not...don't.

What this means is that vote counts are totally worthless. Either people agree in advance by colluding on Facebook to vote for certain entries, or people are simply chasing influence. If one has not bothered to even read what the idea is how can that vote be worth anything? It can't. That is why Quirky no longer pays any attention to votes.

Nathanial perhaps explains here http://www.quirky.com/forums/topic/8795 by stating "This specifically records when your idea is viewed from it's main ideation page, but not when someone simply expands a submission on Participate."

My last one: 6 views 56 votes.

Do you know why people are voting from the main scrolling page based on number of comments?
Answer: Self interest.

You see, people are trying to guess what Quirky will pick. And they see the comment count as a clue helping them make that guess.

(Why would people want to guess what Quirky will pick? Because they get more %. Self interest.)

Damn, right, Clinton. In your case they assess the probability of another success as higher than average and they want a part of you. I have a large number of views with only 10% of votes. I guess my initial descriptions were successful in making people open the page though.
