Jill Porter's big idea…

Metal Pan with Metal Dividers that Lock in place.

Project Complete!

Project Brief

Product Design: Concept Phase

Time for concept phase for the adjustable baking tray! In this project, we want you to submit sketches, images, videos, and other visuals that illustrate design directions for the desk edge. We are going to let the community start this one off and we’ll use the top concepts as a starting point for our final design sketches.

For a little more info check out our brainstorm.

Think about a file cabinet that has a metal divider with specified areas to add a divider to. This will make the pan the exact size you want it to be.

You would want it to be about 2 in tall so you can fill it as high as you want and as wide as a baking pan so you can bakes cookies in it.

Made from the same type of stuff this is made of:

Cuisinart® is leading the way in eco-friendly branded cookware with our new GreenGourmet™ line. Exclusive Cuisinart Ceramica™ nonstick technology is ceramic based instead of petroleum based, helping to conserve existing oil supplies and the coating is applied at a temperature one half that of conventional nonsticks. And it’s completely free of PTFE and PFOA. The cookware’s hard anodized construction provides high heat conductivity, which requires less energy to reach desired cooking temperatures. Riveted stainless handles stay cool on the stovetop and are made from 70% recycled stainless steel.

I am suggesting this pan be made with FOUR HANDLES so as to prevent burns and slipping. I agree that the bottom insert of silicone or other food and environmentally friendly material could solve leaking concerns. Good luck!

I love the fact that the base of this could possible be an eco-friendly cookware. I have GreenGourmet pans and it evenly distributes the heat so that would be a great plus in the baking arena. I am still not sure of the safety of silicone in bakeware:) so I am just a little leary in mixing the dividers with the silicone technology just yet. If the pan had moveable "rows" with slits that the dividers could fit into then the leaking problems would be solved, I think.

I think the divider idea is on the right track for solving the problem of sizing & leak proofing it..I think that the divider has to have a bottom..maybe attachable.. high enough to prevent leaks...It could be made in attachable piece's..therefore used in different sizes! The divider piece's & bottom could be harder silicon & the casing be softer..maybe come in 2 sizes..Just thinking OL... :))
