Not sure if plastic would be the most appropriate material in high temp process. Many folks who make yogurt like to scald their milk at temps just under boiling (about 180/185 degrees). Plastic may leach into these high temp liquids.
This last plastics issue applies to some of the quirky designs that Brian put up below.
Also, there are issues of durability. Your talk of long-term value would suggest people want to have a durable stainless steel product.
ok hear you on the tempreture conductor thing, theres just as much here say over certain metal types as there is plastics, do you have plastic cups in your house or containers ? and the picture was merely a demonstation of a see thru style container oh o someone didnt read my whole post !
This doesn't look as compact and appears to be a space waster. It also reminds me of the old food storage containers that turn into storage nightmares. O rings adds another component to keep track of. I think there are blank containers for people making their own products to sell.
Just a quick note that being a good temperature conductor is a negative in an insulated container.
You want to retain as much of the initial heat as you can - for up to 5 hours.
Unless you're saying it's a poor temperature conductor, which would be good.
But clear could be good, but I personally am not a fan of plastic for this product.
There are a few competing products that are made of plastic, and they have complaints of 'plasticy' tasting product.
I can't say that it is the plastic that causes this, and I don't think it really matters. What matters is that people who have come across this problem would be easy converts to this product. i.e. They already accept a home made yogurt and they are willing to buy a unit.
also i forgot to add that as a tough plastic type material it will also last forever, be more dent resistant than stainless and look more fururistic :P

Agreed with others on not using plastic. Stainless steel is better.

That's my take on it anyhow.
