Me too. We need to appreciate people more today rather than when they are gone.

I always toss my curtains in the wash. It works beautifully.

Hey Sergio... I'm sitting in my mother-in-law's guest room right now. The guest room curtain rod is 8' tall. Mother-in-law is 4'11". I have a new idea that she absolutely loves. I'm going to repost this in two weeks. I have another 'quirky' idea I plan to post for the next round. I'm on a roll with the rejections. Good thing I don't take it personally! : ) Happy Holidays!

@ sergio-- I was able some time ago to buy a "Tyvec" shower curtain which is great -- lightweight and non-outgassing. I'd love to see them in production again on a large scale (and maybe a little heavier). Washes up nicely, too -- just pop it in the machine with the cloth (decorative) one.

@Sergio - I use step stools all the time. However, I have a large porcelain tub where the curtains go all the way around and I cannot get a stool on the other side. Even standing in the tub, the curtains are a little high when I put up/take down 6 curtains (3 liners / 3 cloth).

Also, there is a ver large population that consists of seniors and seniors that don't want to be climbing step stools. My mother is a prime example. She waits for my brother to come and change the curtains for her every couple of months.

    @ Sandra

I highly recommend an household step stool, to assist reaching all those hard to reach places like the shower curtain rod, tops of closets, high cupboards, changing lights, hanging pictures/artwork, etc.

Then worrying about designing different curtain rods/ hooks wouldn't be such a priority. Normal curtains / rods/ hooks would work just fine, when you can reach easily with your step stool. Life would be a bit easier.

@ V Jardine - You are very lucky to be tall! : )

Okay... I've been thinking about this one a lot and realize I shouldn't have posted this soon soon. If I were to simply create an ultimate shower curtain holder (as shown in my original picture) and nix the magic wand, I think I've come up with a new solution. . .
What if the hook that holds the curtain can be pulled down on some kind of retractable line and then it will snap back into place when the curtain has been hung or removed? If the hook is curved in enough, then there should be no risk of the curtains falling off the hook. This is the most simple solution. The shorter people like me would not be standing there extending arms messing with those curtains.

Alternatively, we can keep the hanging wand, but make it a generic 'cheap' wand. (Obviously, it would look cool, because this would be a Quirky product.) The user would simply attach it to the hook of the shower curtain holder so the short people, seniors, those with disabilities can simply pull that retractable hook down. I like this solution so far. Simple.

I'm still thinking... Thanks again to ALL for your opinions. I really appreciate it!

I like the idea of the double rod for two curtains. But I think hanging another rod could lead to the whole thing looking kind of messy. You would be better of with a anchor point on each side and a telescopic rod that hooks into those. Trouble is though that this design and yours makes attatching the whole thing more difficult again. Since you have to manouvre the whole width of the rod, for people with physical problems, this is a step back from the original idea.

Just an idea for consideration... what if we were to design a second rod designed for shower curtains that slip on like a curtain and the second rod has a hook on each end that hangs on the primary rod folks already have in place and would leave there.

So, to change the curtain, you simply...
    1) unhook the lower rod from each end of the upper, permanent rod
    2) pull the hook off one end of the secondary rod
    3) slide the curtain off, wash and reverse the process

Certainly the end hooks can't be too long as we don't want the lower rod hanging down to low, swaying too much and bothering tall people.

For those with two curtains, there's a couple ways to handle this...
    1) two lower bars
    2) a double lower bar
    3) shower curtains that contain an inner liner attached
    etc.

I like the idea, but I don't like the fact the rings have to come off every time you take it down. I would work with fixed rings and a hook you put on the curtain (trough the holes) wich easely but securely attatches to the ring. Like a ball on the end of a stick on the ring (with a +- 90° angle so it comes to the side), and then a bucketshape with a slot on the side of the hook that catches over the ball. Don't know if that makes sense but it's the best way I can explain in english. Then if you put a horizontal ring on the other side you can put it up with anything long enough with a spherical end. Even an umbrella.
With a few talented designers, it could even look nice too.
