Maybe it's just me (and I'm a computer nerd), but I don't have any more than just a few USB flash drives. I imagine myself buying this and it being left mostly empty. I really only use 1 flash drive for most of my work. While I like the idea of a place to store your USB flash drives so you don't lose them, I think maybe a model with smaller capacity or at least other things besides holding flash drives would be more useful.
The whiteboard area doesn't seem that useful because I don't see us having much real estate space to write much.
@Patricia yea, the magnetic part is a concern
@Gabe adding sound would be great
@Glen you had me at bobble heads
I have decided to re-submit the idea with a few additions. I couldn't include everyone's but feel free to add them in the comments the second time around. Thanks for your support!
I missed something... I really like this idea but can the crowd actually cheer? You know, like a crowd roar, maybe a wave, or 'let's go sammy'. That'd be a pretty attractive desk addition for me if so. Just my input...
@Hamed. USB is the way I think I'm going to re-submit this idea in the event we don't win.
@Stacy. I agree fully. What do you think of the idea of the little people being USBs? And the front being magnetic?
Yet I'm trying, in this economy and with the environment always in mind, to think of some dual function beyond the already-mentioned (and minimal) "storage." Ideally, it would be something that wouldn't undercut the fun too much...and, given the public nature of cubicles, something that's not too inviting for pranksters and, well, jerks.
- pre-inked rubber stamps for paperwork (void, draft, copy, file copy, paid, confidential, whatever)?
- pencils/pens with eraser tops as characters?
- Candy -- like chocolate Santas? Lollipops? The wrappers could be detailed, customizable...You can eat 'em or leave them as your cheering squad. People will be coming by asking for a bite of Aunt Flo, or Derek Jeter.
Just trying to think outside the...ahem, ha, ha...box.
First off, I didnt read everything so sorry if I say something already mentioned. I say that we change it to a usb holder. Same design, accept it can fit any sized usb. You could even have a little space to label them.

This got one of my votes.

Seems like a cool idea.

Bobble heads and cheering fans are always welcome when you're working hard in a cubicle!

A magnet will not harm a USB -- BUT, try convincing your random buyer...
best to stick with the whiteboard (which I like better anyway).
Also big on the face stickers suggested by Mark S.

This is so clever and fun. I love office toys.
