Dan Matarazzo's big idea…

Rotundo System

Project Complete!

Project Brief

Product Design: Industrial Design

Let’s get a little ID going. We’ll start you off with a few concepts that explore some aspects of functionality that might add to the original concept. Hop to it Quirks!

RECAP:
Using it is very simple:
1. squeeze juice out of fruit
2. store or pour your juice from the carafe base
3. enjoy your fresh juice!

This idea combines the Rotundo carafe with the to-go cup. Since the juicer top and carafe neck have the same diameter, you can juice into either the Rotundo or To-Go cup. This rotund carafe holds over 5 servings (42oz) of juice! You get all the amenities mentioned in the other idea submissions, to-go lid, silicone hand guard, pulp screen, and of course the juicer top!

What would be cool, is a mini blender/juicer thing that could sit on top and process other fruits and such as well...for making smoothies.

How about a metal base to match the juicer? Not sure how it would attach, but it might make it look even nicer.

Very nice and near enough to the original. This is going to be an attractive product.

This and the "Yogurt By You" design are the best so far...at least aesthetically.

    Good job.

Dan, i think the silicon grips need work i like the idea in integrating them into the product but i don't feel there as simplistic as they could be, specifically on the "rotundo" series. i think you could simplify it even more to have a more effective design but overall i like the options.

This idea is perfect and I would absolutely buy it. Maybe it would be smart to sell the carafe and the to-go cup separate as well. Very cool design.

Hey thanks for all the comments and feedback!

@Om design- HAHA no offense taken, orange juice is pretty tricky to render, but your comment made my day!

@Jim- Thanks, that really means a lot to me. Oh and if anyone from Quirky is reading this... I'm available and can commute to NY.

@Suzanne- If this did go through I would like to see different sized juicing tops for other types of fruits, like Jeremy mentioned.

And for the dishwasher safe concerns- Silicone bakeware is dishwasher safe, so the grips on ym juicer would be too. The metal and glass parts are all dishwasher safe as well.

Oh and as far as a carafe lid goes... The silicone hand guard would also double as a carafe storage cap.

Once again thanks for all your great comments, they keep me going!

Make the container collapsible so that it gets smaller as the juice is used. This would take us less room in the fridge and keep the juice fresh longer.

Looks nice but please make the juice less transparent in your renderings, it really does look like a hospital urinal, no offense.

Please make sure the product is easy to clean or dishwasher safe. I'll buy if it's dishwasher safe.

I continue to be impressed with Dan's designs! With his modular approach, I see no reason why multiple tops wouldn't be available for the different fruit sizes. Not a big juice guy, but I'm placing my order once it goes for pre-sale!
