The Art of Organization
Project Complete!
Pen Zen needs a tagline. Who’s got some ideas?! Submit ’em for some more influence.
RECAP:
This is less a “dispenser” and more of a piece of functional art.
Soft silicone tentacles grip any pencil, pen, or similar object. This holder allows for random access of any instrument you would like to use. The “dispenser” will work in any orientation: hung on a wall, placed flat on a desk, or standing up.
For drama, lighting could be incorporated and will allow the tentacles to glow.
To illustrate the concept, I rendered the design with a polished aluminum holder, but it could be any material. I envision various sizes and shapes, or the ability to join units together for long blocks, or large square, etc. Or the tentacle holder could be flexible, allowing the owner to create their own freeform sculpture.
This device can also hold business cards, an iPod or iPhone, a deck of Post-Its, or pretty much anything that would fit in the slot.
The fingers are very flexible and will not harm any surface. The tentacles could be molded in any color, or you could purchase different color inserts.

Show AllIt does compliment the product/name very well.
its cute and best of all make sense makes sense
plays on the zen vibe
catches the organization theme
touches on the design concept by using the word art
I really like that it does not mention the word pen (its all ready in the name), leaves the usage ideas open to the person
very cool, gets my vote
I really like this, I skipped over the first time and came back
works on all levels, it is my favorite by far
The industrial design reminds me of a frame, which makes me think art.... and really with the pens in it becomes sort of a sculptural form of desk art... as well as being a way to organize.
