Show AllI think that the magnetic element works great for this product idea since many kids are used to this through playing with similar letter games and shape toys.
I agree. If a vertical design is used it should also accommodate being used horizontally.
I think it should be easy to stand up or lay flat or almost flat. The base could support it in both cases... when laid "flat," it could hold the board at a slight angle.
@Jose - oops, sorry, maybe I misunderstood the "Rate, Vote, Comment, Sneeze." instructions. I guess I was commenting or sneezing instead of offering improvement suggestions. ;-)
I do like Mox's suggestion of an optional stand. Maybe the handle could be made to double as a stand somehow?
I think the vertical should be optional. The portable handle design with an optional stand would be cool. Ever get a cramp in the neck after working on a puzzle for hours?
totally looks like battleship! Loved that game but the vertical always led to some frustrations with falling pieces.
I guess the idea of how to make it better became the "why I don't like the idea-opinion post"
1) slippage needs to be resolved(perhaps a transparent grill-type device), I love the idea and it could very easily lead the way for people to print additional sheets of puzzles from their home computer (provided there was a site they could access it from.)
2)if it's magnetic on one side of the board It'll be magnetic on the other side, pieces when the board is collapsed stick underneath inside and won't move around and make clanking noises.
3) if it can be played vertical have a way to have it so it can be played flat (I"m sure it;s a no brainier)
4) have a gripping point (ok a handle but it could be something of a design feature that's more inconspicuous like part of the design where there's like a couple of indentations and the plastic on the sides is not as smooth for people to get a grip easily and carry it around)
Kim, I had the exact same thought the first time I looked at it.
This is cool but I don't like the vertical game board idea. People like to concentrate by looking down on something.
