Um... there are no filters or attachments that can produce the effects shown above. What is optically possible is very hokey and ... well lets just drop it ok.
now if you want to make a wide angle adapter not you could get my attention, but it is beter to have an ultra wide angle lens in the first place and to zoom digitally with super high rez CCDs
instead of using adhesive use some sort of removable material such as Velcro, a magnet, or static energy. People are not going to want to stick any type of adhesive to there phones. But if you use something that Ive mentioned you could change the lenses, reuse then and even trade with people. You would have a Velcro or magnetic strip that would stay on your phone permanently and the attachments could attach and detach by that.
I agree with what a lot of people are already saying. This product needs to offer something that photo editing software can't otherwise it will fast become obsolete.
Perhaps an attachment that has various switch able and combinable filters that can be changed on-the-fly for use with the video function on on mobile phones. That way you can edit videos whilst your shooting them.
Imagine you're videoing on your mobile, and now you have the ability to go to black, fade out, add in filters (flash back), make the screen go wobbly (like a dream starting or ending), plus endless other possibilities. It could be for budding movie directors, a cool present, or just for a laugh.
It could be constructed like a thickness gauge or carpet samples, were all the filters pivot around a point. These could all be attached to the end of a ring that fixed or clipped over the lens, and some system developed to enable different filters to be selected and used so they can be moved across the lens at the desired speed etc.
Have you placed colored gels in front of your iPhone's lens before? Are the images you published in the thread above a result of the gels being in front of the lens?
Since most cameras have built-in automatic white balance, your filters will need to account for that. It's possible (and likely) that the white balance software in the camera will correct for the gel in front of the lens, so white may still look white.
I think it will have a limited market potential, as a cheap, fun sticker for kids and teens. I imagine the software approach will bring in obsolescence...but it's cute.

My interest in this product would be for business use. As with other commenters, I only see value in a single fixed lens - like wide angle or zoom. What I imagine is that sometime soon, you'll be able to do some kind of video-conferencing from smart phones. Rather than work on this concept, I would jump forward, brainstorm unique patent ideas for smartphone lens technologies/ enhancements/ software that facilitate video-conferencing (be where the puck will be) so that you can license the technology when the smartphone technology catches up with the idea.
I just joined Quirky, so I missed why the original lens set idea was out. As a photographer I know there are only 3 things you can't fix in photoshop: focus, composition, and to a lesser extent exposure. If you can do it in photoshop and it is cool enough, someone will eventually write an iPhone app for it, and probably give it away for free. On the other hand, I would love a macro or telephoto lens that I could snap onto my iPhone in order to get more pixels (composition) on a subject. I think there are already some snap-on cases that have built in lenses. That may be why the original idea was scrapped.
This is the same thing i said a couple of post before, i totally agree with you, software is better for what he is trying to do. I would love to see a Tele or Wide Angle lens.

the photos shown just happened by it self. no effects where used, and my camera was not broken.
that's what gave me the idea...
This is very confusing. It would be helpful to have a description of the concept in addition to the pictures.
yeah, you have to look at the first set of pics i posted in the comments, the uploads on the edit-idea submission page didn't work.
