Zipper Pouch
Project Complete!
Product Design: Design | Features
Here are a few features we propose adding to the sling design, given our internal research, as well as the research you provided us with.
Its important that we not only have cool designs / patterns printed on a sling.. but design a cooler/better sling all together.
Please rate the different features, as well as vote for your two favorites.
RECAP OF BRIEF:
A lot of people break their arms, and are required to wear slings. The problem with these slings is that they are boring, only the color blue ? Why can’t there be a pink sling for girls ? or a Powerpuff Girls Sling for young girls ?
Sling Stories are slings with pictures on how you got your injury, like falling down the stairs, saving a princess from an evil monster, rescuing a drowning kitten, or being a victim of Dick Cheney and other cool stuff.
These will be sold in hospitals and drug stores. Parents will buy these for their kids to make them feel better. Kids will love it, because they could show it off to their classmates and be a hero.
Injured people who wear slings, wear it for weeks or even months, give them something fashionable, something funny, something wearable

Show AllThis is great! Detachable? So, Any chance is strong enough to hold by Blackberry/iPhone, make up & stuff? Not everyone uses their pockets to put things on it, however there's lots of people that will fill it.
I don't velcro is the answer, and certainly not a button. What about a double head/lock plastic zipper?
@michelle brewster: they don't usually make you take them off, although in some airports they make you go through an special security x-ray system to check what sort of thing you're carrying.
So it could work without having to be removable, but they would make you take everything from the pouch anyways, as with your other pockets.
I was wondering what happens with slings in airports, do they make you take them off? I just did a trip around the world and had to take scarfs hats shoes cardigans. My point being that the pocket needs to at least detach to go through scanners lest you empty the contents or remove the whole sling.
I think the zipper pouch (or velcro possibly -cheaper) is a good idea however I do not think it is a design feature so feel it should go on the inside of the sling so that the outside is left for whatever theme we decided. It is also more safe having it on the inside if people are storing cash/phones in there.
Good idea, never seen a cast with storage
I like the design of this sling because it looks like it would support the arm better by extending the material higher on the bicep. I think it would be cost-effective as well. I don't know about the comfort around the neck based on the drawing, but that could be worked out. I like the zipper pocket because it is value-added.
Correction, I meant it doesn't look right where the band and the sling connect.
One thing that doesn't look so right from the drawing is where the sling connects. If it's going to be that far back, it may cause irritations to the neck. Maybe it should be moved a little more towards the wrist.
zipped pouch is a smart idea for females as I am sure many who have to wear a pouch would hardly want to carry a purse as well.
