Extra Off-Shoulder Strap
Project Complete!
Product Design: Design | Features
Here are a few features we propose adding to the sling design, given our internal research, as well as the research you provided us with.
Its important that we not only have cool designs / patterns printed on a sling.. but design a cooler/better sling all together.
Please rate the different features, as well as vote for your two favorites.
RECAP OF BRIEF:
A lot of people break their arms, and are required to wear slings. The problem with these slings is that they are boring, only the color blue ? Why can’t there be a pink sling for girls ? or a Powerpuff Girls Sling for young girls ?
Sling Stories are slings with pictures on how you got your injury, like falling down the stairs, saving a princess from an evil monster, rescuing a drowning kitten, or being a victim of Dick Cheney and other cool stuff.
These will be sold in hospitals and drug stores. Parents will buy these for their kids to make them feel better. Kids will love it, because they could show it off to their classmates and be a hero.
Injured people who wear slings, wear it for weeks or even months, give them something fashionable, something funny, something wearable

Show AllI don't see it working just as strips, they would move if you raised your hand, and you couldn't fit them back in place easily. Probably better if i was just one padded piece (inside it could still be two strips)
For this idea to work the strap would need to be adjustable to fit all body sizes. As our target market is going to be kids however I do not think this is a good idea, kids will not be able to maintain the second strap staying where it is in the picture and it will slide inwards, meaning parents/teachers will have to be constantly fixing it. A simpler one wide strap option with padding is a better idea.
Anything that increases over-all patient comfort at a reasonable cost will probably well received. The support strap should not restrict movement of the uninjured arm. Both straps shouldl be wide enough and padded enough to again comfort the user and not cut off circulation.
If the extra-strap were adjustable, the user could distribute weight according to the situation. eg. Extra support on a long subway ride, or a little loose when lounging at the beach.
The adjustment mechanism would have to be accessible to the one free hand of the user.
