Affinitea (www.affinitea.com) has a patent on this process.

I believe I already saw something like this on one of the invention television shows.

I would create variety packs to introduce people to a wide variety of tea's, beyond your basics that most people in the USA are familiar with. Then maybe created regional favorites, focus on Chinese teas, Japanese teas, Indian teas, etc. Then green teas and roasted teas and flavored teas.

If the name isn't taken, maybe "Varie-teas" could be a good name.

It WILL work - the tea needs to be ground into a fine powder first because it normally takes several minutes brewing to release the tea's natural flavors. This means that you have to use a fine enough material to ensure none of the particulate matters gets steamed into the cup.

There is a beverage company here, an offshoot of RBT, called HAPPY LEMON, that is basically a Starbucks for tea. Their angle is using the big expensive espresso machines but instead of making coffee, they make tea. Its the sizzle that sells the steak sort of thing. They use special round tea bags that fit into the cup/handle thingy that normally holds the ground coffee.

They now have a location in Flushing Queens (NYC) so you can go check them out.

Their website might put a smile on your face :)

@matthew it seems that nespresso is not really interested in tea, they are coffee people..........
I am a (geen)tea guy with an nespresso machine and I wonder why we could not make money with tea capsules....
Maybe there are technical challenges I do not know.

@Gery, care to explain more ?

And if we do this it would only work for Nespresso Machines right ?

Don't assume nothing. Remember the George Foreman Grill that sold millions. It didn't sell under the Salton brand. Make a name for your product big and wide and you can be the next "Kleenex" or "Jacuzzi" name on everyones lips when they think of "The Tea Express"

Not being a negative nancy here, but i'm confident that the manufacturer of the nespresso and/or their coffee supplier already has something in the works for tea since, well, its a logical extension of their drink range and other mfg'rs of similar machines offer tea.

The situation may be that their market research says that their is not enough demand for a tea pod like you are suggesting. In that case, a licensing deal where you make your own and market it would be ideal.

Gary - natural extension of what they're already doing. Senseo has them, it's OK to go after a licensing deal. The idea is a good one, the machine exists...

My Keurig machine already has this option - though the range of teas isn't as good as the coffee options at the moment
