I think it's a great product, but I think it might accidently get broken if it falls. so I think that Steve Goldberg's charging wallet is a good idea. if not that, then maybe a thicker card. I know that in a lot of wallets you can fit a slightly-thicker-than-normal credit card.
Saw the wallet idea noted ablve. I believe one iphone wallet with extra power battery already exists from what I saw in the last week. Google to see but pretty sure its out there.
I voted for this item once before but decided not to this time since I have found there are a ton of items that offer iphone and other electronics users extra charge when needed. At this point I think it's past it's time especially seeing I found one almost exactly like it a few weeks back. Reinventing a wheel is one thing but when there are tons of wheels on the market you better add more user functionality for little added price or it just won't succeed without much more invesment.
THE CHARGING WALLET
So ultimately the thickness limiter is the connectors, right ? As a card among other cards in my wallet, any connector would either get crushed or add an unwanted lump to the wallet. BUT . . . overall, my wallet *is* already thicker than the connectors. So here's my idea: THE CHARGING WALLET
Incorporate this concept into a wallet designed first and foremost to allow for and protect the connectors and wiring. Have a flip-out flap the gives access to the connectors. Or make that a removable section. Then design the rest of the wallet with the usual pockets for regular wallet stuff. Could use a nice black carbon fiber cloth or leathers for the material. And more space means more options. Like adding a USB-to-Blackberry hookup. Maybe include a tip assortment for different connectors. It would all fit if we designed the wallet around the electronics first, then added the standard wallet features. It could probably be made for near the same cost as the device alone. THE CHARGING WALLET
There would absolutely nothing between the 2 connectors other than the connecting wires. The card will be mostly empty. The 2 connectors would determine most of the characteristics of the card like width and weight.
There is plenty of room to include an extension of wire that can pull out with one connector or both.
It would be awesome to be able to include a flip-up electrical wall connector, but doubt that we could fit the transformer due to size and shape considerations. It need not be heavy. Apple's transformer for this purpose is very light weight.
Once you leave the thin-fit-in-your-wallet design, you can just bring your Apple cable along in your bag or any variety of aftermarket cables that are available.
The key to this product was that it is small enough and slim enough to fit in your wallet. That makes it a bring-everywhere-have-it-at-all-times-always-ready simplicity.
Exactly. This isn't meant to be used all the time. It's meant to be a thin, put it in your wallet and forget about it til you need it backup. Make it cheap and sell a ton of them.
Still liking this. My only concern is I'm not sure how much of the feedback you've received you have put to use. I think this is the third submission of this design you've made, but the design and background still sound and look the same to me. If I'm wrong about this, than I certainly retract the above :) Anyway, I do like the overall idea and wish you good luck!
I'm an idea guy. And i believe the basic idea is still good. It's up to the quirks out there to select it and make it the best it can be. And it's on the right track.
If my USB connector is 6 inches from the table, my iphone/ipod/whatever would be sticking out of my computer... I would be afraid that the connectors would be put under too much pressure and break.
Many Quirky products could do well with proper distribution. Just getting them onto one website would not do justice to some ideas that come through here.
Kitchen gadgets should be stocked in grocery and home stores. Electronic items in CE and mass merch big boxes etc.

give up already!
The outer case could be decorated with company logos for a give away advertising promotion. It could also be decorated with NFL, MLB etc sports teams.

Any other thoughts?

Maybe if it were rubbery?
