Show AllI still think adding a wire grid integrated into the press mechanism for cubing the tofu adds great value. It could even be a separate, similarly styled piece and just store in the press. Two motions and you have cubed tofu, vs. several cuts with a knife.
There is just something about it.. awesome
I'd take some cues from the feedback in the logo section, and make all of the white parts some sort of "eco" green, which would go nicely with the bamboo/wood grain.
Good one ... :D
It does not really attract my eye frankly.
Good shape, but the handle should be thinner and look more like a handle. This design is the most clear for a press in my opinion.
To address the triangle cut, referred to by Jeanne McIntosh, you could have a double hinge mechanism at the pivot point, which would slice downward.
It would also be very cool to have different shape/size cutting mechanisms that could be swapped out of the inside for coarser or more fine (or cool shaped) tofu cuts.
Good for storage (on top), opportunity for branding - and, as long as it works well - looks like it would be easy to clean as well.
I like the style but it looks a little bulky compared to (say) the "Future" design. Space is at a premium in our kitchen (darn juicer takes up more than it's fair share of space!)
The top looks like it has enough weight to do the pressing. The limitation is that the hinged design would create a diagonal pressure that would be uneven on a block of tofu. You'd have to cut the tofu in a triangle shape. The pressure should be coming from straight down so that the tofu drains evenly and doesn't crumble. This type of design pictured would work better on flat, expandable items like ground burger meat.
Best design when considering storage. Older printers have the paper holder which can be elongated while printing, maybe a similar design would work for directing the run-off to the sink. The product not only needs to be designed for easy use and storage but should also take convenience when loading into the dishwasher into consideration.
