Show AllFYI, bamboo has been used (forever) in food prep and doesn't need to be dishwashed. A quick dip in hot water (and possibly a quick pass with a nylon scrubbie) should take care of clean-up; unlike cheese, tofu isn't greasy.
change the tilting block to a removable wedge for drain and non-drain use and more stability.
The cube format is a bit boring if you ask me. Try to make it stylisher.
Its a little 1960's, I think that rounded corners would make it look a lot more modern. I'm thinking Zen Cube, not square.
Fantastic form. Will look great on the counter top in the kitchen.
Perhaps include a receptacle to collect the tofu juice so that the unit is self-contained.
The shape is my favorite. Elle nailed the improvements I would find most useful.
The material (bamboo) is beautiful but not dishwasher safe. It would need to be thrown in there to live in our kitchen. I don't have time to hand wash an extra item.
Overall comment: I can't see how any of the designs would work. The sketches are outlines without mechanical detail.
Tofu needs to be pressed over time with a constant, even pressure on the block. Without the hinges included in the sketch, it is impossible for us to properly evaluate the designs for functionality.
Instinctively I like this design the best: doesn't try too hard, simple clear lines. Like it.
My main concern is the external wedge; frankly, when it comes to kitchen devices the fewer separate parts the better (ask anyone with an electric egg beater).
Also, the edges come off as a bit sharp in the sketch. I'm curious to see if the design keeps its cool factor one they're softened.
I like this classic look. Lots of room for branding on top, fits together nicely so adding a clamp or tightener wouldn't be hard, and could use very recyclable materials to make it because of the simplicity.
This seems more like something I could make myself, rather than buy. It has to be an all in one solution.
