    The Problem

    From research undertaken..there seems to be a niche area regarding measurement that has yet to be developed. Its likely there is an opening for an APP enabled mini measuring device that can be used to measure circumferences, such as waists, or legs for instance of any other straight line variables; easily, whilst allowing the results be taken digitally and displayed on your Smartphone (and also stored if desired). Or potentially straight onto the Measuring unit itself (See sugg.below).

    The Device

    IMP Mini Measure is such a device. Its dimensions are still to be fine tuned obviously but in the sketch attached perhaps 1 cm X 1cm x 5cm (approx). To look at its a rectangular shaped rubber unit Inside the unit is a retractable cord housing including a length of cord. This is what is used to take the measurement. The unit is securely attached to the smartphone by a resilient rubber band. On one end of the unit there is a button on the other is a sensor. To use in 'circumference mode'.. pull out the button and withdraw the cord in one continuous motion, wrap it around the circumference to be measured and touch it on the sensor on the other end of the unit. This will enable the system to display the measurement you have just taken, straight onto the phone display- (this can be saved with annotation). If you wish to measure a straight line- then place phone/unit next to the point you wish to measure from; pull out the cord in one continuous motion.. when you are at the point you wish to measure two hold for 2 seconds and the app will display the measurement on the phone (can also be saved with annotation) It may be decided that it is not necessary to directly use the Smartphone at all - and display or save size information on the unit itself. If this is the case a smaller, redesigned unit maybe more suitable; as the current design is more optimized for use with the actual phone. Possible applications (work in progress- please suggest more if possible!): *Monitoring waist size, other body parts, diets. *Checking body part measurements , clothes fitting *Monitoring Baby bumps, pregnancy. *Tree sizes * any other circumferences (up to length of cord- to be advised) * luggage/items size prior to flight check-in * any straight line measurement (up to length of cord- to be advised) * automatically calculate radius/diameter and other metrics + PLEASE suggest! Suggestions accepted so far (more in sect. below) Carolyn: To get more interest, I think that you should list specific uses for this product. One would be monitoring weight loss. Another would be to keep track of the "baby bump". Ken Y: I suggest that you don't need to tell the app whether or not it is a circumference or linear measurement, they are both the same thing, a measure of distance. However, what would be helpful would be for the app to be able to tell you the diameter, or radius, of something round you just measured, saving you from having to do all the formulas. It could also tell you 1/2, or 1/3, or 1/5th of a distance, and show you the answer in decimal or fractional measurements. Great idea, voted! LuckyAnant: Ability to store your favorite profiles. eg: Create profiles called "Person A Waist" and "Person B Waist" and "Person A Chest", and just click on one of the profiles, after measuring, and it'll store the waist automatically and mark it to that day's date and time. Now view the graph on how your waist looks over time.

    The Problem

    Too many times tornados can come while we are sleeping and we are unable to protect our loved ones.

    The Device

    Small device that goes under your smoke alarm in each room that will alert you to a tornado warning in your immediate area with a bright light flashing and loud alarm . We have weather alarm boxes that will give off an alarm but many times you can sleep through it . If this is attached or placed next to smoke alarm in each room then family will be alerted to the oncoming danger.

    The Description

    This is a fish hook made of 'Polylactic acid(PLA)' the material that dissolving sutures and bioabsorbable implants are made of, they will dissolve in the fish's body after they are cut loose. Lessens the trauma to the poor creature. Polylactic acid Polylactic acid (PLA) is thermoplastic aliphatic polyester material used to make dissolvable stitches. About 50% of its strength is reduced within 3 weeks and takes about 3 months to be dissolved completely. Their biocompatibility is excellent, and they have sufficient stiffness and strength to provide initial and intermediate-term stability required for bone healing: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3489405/ WHICH MEANS THEY ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO MAKE FISHING HOOKS! Polyglycolic acid Polyglycolic acid (PGA) is also a thermoplastic polymer, made from glycolic acid. It is widely used to make these threads around the world. About 40% of its strength is dissolved in a week and takes about 3 to 4 months to be totally dissolved in the body. Polydioxanone Polydioxanone (PDO) is a biodegradable synthetic polymer that has many biomedical applications. This material is used in many orthopedic, plastic and cardiovascular surgeries. Dissoluble ones take about 10 days to 3 months to be totally absorbed within the body. They are very helpful in case the patient is not able to return to a medical setup for the removal. It is also used for internal injuries where it is not possible to operate the patient again, just to remove the sutures. They are thus, used for deep wounds on the skin surface, like during a heart surgery or some transplantation surgery. In some cases, it may also be used to repair perineum tears in women after childbirth. They have high tensile strength that holds the tissues or skin together until it heals.     The Description

    A deep dish (1.5" deep, 30" long, 12" wide) cookie tray with lid. Inside the tray is a flocked project board that slides left to right to accommodate preferable dominant hand. The rest of the flat surface would be a grip tight type liner. The lid would allow the project to be stashed until the next time its needed.

    The Problem

    Trying to store my extension cords has always been a challenge. They usually land up on my work bench or use up valuable wall space.

    The Solution

    My idea utilizes the unused part of the garage door track. Its a rolling wheel with a hook that slides onto the back end of the door track. You can hang your cords from the hook and use the stem as well. There is room for 2-3 wheel hooks on each side of each railing on most standard tracks. Let me know what you think.     The Description

    "The SeeFloor Floatie" Floating Toy that allows kids to see under water while staying afloat with inflatable and/or floating noodle conforming to chest and arms with head above water Concept similar to a glass bottom boat and/canoe or underwater viewer Many kids would love to see under water but have a fear of putting there head under or are prone to ear infections so with this simple solution than can enjoy the underwater scenery while floating and enjoying themselves Centered is a plexy glass type of material surrounded by an inflatable and/or floating noodle that conforms to your chest and arms while u comfortably lay face forward and enjoy the view. Something similar to the underwater viewer device picture attached but incorporate flotation device so kids can use at beach. Can probably add an LED light strip underneath to eluminate view especially if using at night. Product could generate high margins since it most likely could be very inexpensive to make but sell in large volumes

    The Problem

    Every time I have to do major yard work I know that its going to be picked up with bulk trash but when you cut 82 palm tree branches and other bushes you kind of get a big pile fast! Its so labor intensive right now because I have to make 30 trips from my backyard to street curb to get everything over there. It kills my back and takes a lot of time. I thought of this idea because I laid my tarp down and took a rope to cross over through each grommet and then attached it to my 250 cc scooter and pulled it through my RV gate. I don't think everyone has a tarp though lol.

    The Solution

    What if you had something you could lay out in preparation and simply stack all of your debris on top then lock it and slide it to the street? With the Bulk Belt device its easy. There are 3 parts to this. Part A and B are made up of left and right rib cage, they connect under and around the top with clips. On the top straps there is a release lever that when you squeeze it releases the bottom locked straps via an internal cord, this is because your trash would be on top and it would be very hard to pull your straps out. The middle or spine cord goes down the top middle connecting all 6 A and B left side to the spines locks which click locked to, (all plastic connections or such). the mesh is made of cloth and metal durable for pulling on dirt, concrete and pavement. So one trip for all of your yard or debris items then squeeze the release buttons 3 times and pull out the left side then right side, fold it and store it for another day!

    The Problem

    Today's staplers don't allow safe paper connection so papers can easily separate again using stapler removers. This is very inconvenient specially in situations where permanent connection of attached papers is important, IE in contracts...

    The Solution

    Let's make a stapler which allows the REAL PERMANENT connection. It can be made with kind of METAL SNAPS like those used in fabric industry, but such that are impossible to open without damaging the paper (it could be snaps similar to those which are used for shirts, but with sharp edges so ones closed you cant open them again). A stapler could first punch a hole and then attach a metal snap. There are some eyelets paper stapler but mostly used for other purposes and I don't know how secure they are. As an option we could make snaps which are impossible to open and which could than be attached by hand (pressing two pieces together through premade hole).

Imagine being able to change and control your kids toy with your phone! The apps could get progressively smarter and more complex as your child ages. The age range could be from 0 to 5 years easily. The apps could range from lullabies to sight words! Always changing with your child!!! Generation II would take this toy to the next level! It would be a RC enabled smart toy!     The Problem

    To test to see if my bake goodies are done I insert a knife or toothpick into what I am baking. It is a good trick that works. If the toothpick or knife comes back clean then it's ready. Sometimes I need to test a couple times before it's ready. Testing lets heat escape.

    The Device

    The user places the device which will be very thin into the batter and once it does not detect any moisture it alerts you via your phone that its done so you don't have to keep checking. Product could also have other features, thermometer etc.
