Sling Back

Another Angle on the Tangle.

The Sling Back is a universal wire retractor that, being universal and all, holds any type of cord that’s up to 1/8” in diameter. What does that cover? Oh, it’ll manage all your headphone cords, small power cables, USB cords, firewire cables, printer cords, etc. And when we say “manage” we mean it’ll suck up over 3 feet of cable in one fell swoop.

If we had a quirky trumpet, now is when we’d point it to the sky and proclaim...doo doo doo...our very *first* quirky product is ready to go.

Yes, kids - in just a matter of days, we did it. Hundreds of us came together to help make our inaugural product happen. We submitted ideas, narrowed them down to one, worked en masse to name it, logo it, tagline it...and now the Sling Back is the first item up for sale in the quirky store. We’re stoked, and dying to tell you all about it:

The Sling Back is cake to use - just open the magnetically sealed top, press your wire in, and pull once...*voila*...your wire is now eternally retractable. The integrated top/bottom flower is more than just genius design - it’s also the key to unlimited stacking possibilities. Eventually the Sling Back will come in different sizes and colors, but for our kick-off product, we’re going to start with this one size/diameter and the orange/white color combopack.

And now for another angle on the quirky tangle - remember, everyone who has participated thusfar and helped secure our winning design, name, logo, etc. has already earned influence. To earn more influence and/or to newly hop on the influence gravy train, you can commit to buying the Sling Back now. Every one we sell will earn every influencer cash. This product will retail for $15 but pre-sale for $10. In this case, the pre-sale magic number is 500...so let’s hit that number (minimally) and then we can think about expanding the Sling Back line!

i think it is a great idea, and - i LOVE the name - yes - slingbacks are historically womens shoes (and i have a large collection) - but the name fits - would you consider making a round one thats big enough to hold a standard electric cord? i hate having cords laying around - anywhere, lamps, kitchen equipment, curling irons, fans, whatever - and i was suprised to find out my hate of cords is not unusual - the colours you have are cool - and a colorful circle laid out on the floor or counter (or hanging light, how cool would that be??)would be a great idea - i'd go for 10 right off the bat - cali

Why not make one that works with fatter cords? Many of the wires under my computer desk are fatter and would benefit by being hidden in this device.

Over three months and just over 1/4 of the way towards the pre-sale magic number. So what happens if you never hit 500? The longer it's up there, the less successful Quirky looks.

To re-ask Steve's question, is it possible to commit from abroad? If so, where do we stand on delivery charges? The FAQs say you have members worldwide, but committing requires a state!

@matthew - probably not until presale quota is met. @lindsey and Helena - the Slingback is stackable. Would that solve your 5-1 need?
