The Sling Back is a universal wire retractor that holds any cord that’s up to 1/8” in diameter. What does that cover? Headphone cords, cell phone chargers, small power cables, USB cords, Firewire cables, and so much more. And when we say “manage,” we mean it’ll suck up more than three feet of cable in one fell swoop.
The Sling Back is cake to use:
- Just open the magnetically-sealed top.
- Press your wire in.
- Pull once.
Voila! Your wire is now eternally retractable. The integrated top/bottom flower is more than just genius design -- it’s also the key to unlimited stacking possibilities. Eventually, the Sling Back will come in different sizes and colors, but for our kick-off product, we’re going to start with one size and one super-fly orange/white color combo.
The Sling Back is Quirky's very first product. Yes, kids -- in just a matter of days, hundreds of us came together to make our inaugural product happen. We submitted ideas, narrowed them down to one, worked en masse to name it, logo it, tagline it... and now the Sling Back is the first item up for sale in the Quirky store. We’re stoked, and we hope you are too. So what are you waiting for? Jump on the bandwagon and help us push the Sling Back into production!

It's been a while since this one was introduced. Is it possible to include other colors now along with the orange/white???

Threshold raised temporarily due to inconsistent/worrisome ratio between paid commitments and recently joined members who are signing up with multiple accounts and using their 20 dollar coupon. We will investigate this over the weekend and report back monday.

OMG, I just put this idea on the site, before I saw it was already invented. Shoot me now...I just pissed away $99 bucks

The logo looks alot like the Mont Blanc logo. You think they are going to have a problem with that?

Nice to see this thing slowly climbing up the charts. Wouldn't mind seeing a wholesale order come in...heh. Come on threshold!

i think it is a great idea, and - i LOVE the name - yes - slingbacks are historically womens shoes (and i have a large collection) - but the name fits - would you consider making a round one thats big enough to hold a standard electric cord? i hate having cords laying around - anywhere, lamps, kitchen equipment, curling irons, fans, whatever - and i was suprised to find out my hate of cords is not unusual - the colours you have are cool - and a colorful circle laid out on the floor or counter (or hanging light, how cool would that be??)would be a great idea - i'd go for 10 right off the bat - cali

WHy not make a larger pone of these that can hold four different cords? Perfect for under office desks...

Why not make one that works with fatter cords? Many of the wires under my computer desk are fatter and would benefit by being hidden in this device.

When this product surpasses the pre-sale threshold, won't it just murder product 0011? Personally, I'd like to have a stack of these instead of cord weights in my laptop case.

Over three months and just over 1/4 of the way towards the pre-sale magic number. So what happens if you never hit 500? The longer it's up there, the less successful Quirky looks.

I can't wait for this product to come out... so many 3' cables running around my desk right now it drives me crazy! :)

Just wondering how long you'll wait to reach your goal of 500 pre-sales. Is there some cutoff date on which the idea will be abandoned and removed from the site?

To re-ask Steve's question, is it possible to commit from abroad? If so, where do we stand on delivery charges? The FAQs say you have members worldwide, but committing requires a state!

How do I commit to this project? Or is it closed now?

If this product were large enough to handle my vacuum cleaner cord, I'd buy one right now.

@matthew - probably not until presale quota is met. @lindsey and Helena - the Slingback is stackable. Would that solve your 5-1 need?
-
Helena Martin 2009-06-24T19:02:58-04:00
Lindsey's idea is great! I'd love to have like 5 Slingbacks in one case for behind the TV.
