Universal Wire Retractor
Concept takes two of the basic wire retractors, and stacks one above the other. Both retractors move on the same center axis, however top and bottom move in opposing directions. User would simply fold a wire in half and insert the fold into the clasp in the midsection, which would hold the wire giving the spring/retractor the leverage it needs. Several different sizes and versions could be produced to accommodate all wire diameters. Bigger versions could connect to extension cords, laptop adaptors, etc.
Post-Production Updates Are A-Comin’!
During last week’s Town Meeting, we announced some changes to the way production updates would be communicated. In short: - We will provide a date estimate only when full production has begun. - We will send confirmation e-mails and have SKU (color/version) selection only when the product is on hand. - We will provide a [...]
SlingBack Hits Production Threshold
After 325 days, we’ve moved SlingBack into production. As many of you know, this has sparked both an internal/external conversation about product aging and how it should affect the threshold process. We have a bunch of thoughts, and we’ll continue to monitor the respective threads on this topic on the blog/forum. At the end of [...]

10th of July has come and gone. How is the production going? I can't wait to have this great device in my hands/pocket!

Hi Guys,
I agree with David, It would be nice to have at least a version that handles ethernet cables. CAT6 cables are about 1/4" in diameter.

Hi Guys,
You should seriously consider creating a bigger and rugged version of the SlingBack to use with extension cords around the house or construction field. I am certain construction workers would like to have this type of product to manage their extension cords.

Update: The pre-production timeline has been extended to July 10. This is a toughie to engineer, and we want to get it right!

Won't work with the many headphones that now include in-line microphones, only works with smooth cords?

It's been a while since this one was introduced. Is it possible to include other colors now along with the orange/white???

Threshold raised temporarily due to inconsistent/worrisome ratio between paid commitments and recently joined members who are signing up with multiple accounts and using their 20 dollar coupon. We will investigate this over the weekend and report back monday.

Nice to see this thing slowly climbing up the charts. Wouldn't mind seeing a wholesale order come in...heh.
Come on threshold!

i think it is a great idea, and - i LOVE the name - yes - slingbacks are historically womens shoes (and i have a large collection) - but the name fits - would you consider making a round one thats big enough to hold a standard electric cord? i hate having cords laying around - anywhere, lamps, kitchen equipment, curling irons, fans, whatever - and i was suprised to find out my hate of cords is not unusual - the colours you have are cool - and a colorful circle laid out on the floor or counter (or hanging light, how cool would that be??)would be a great idea - i'd go for 10 right off the bat - cali

WHy not make a larger pone of these that can hold four different cords? Perfect for under office desks...

Why not make one that works with fatter cords? Many of the wires under my computer desk are fatter and would benefit by being hidden in this device.

When this product surpasses the pre-sale threshold, won't it just murder product 0011? Personally, I'd like to have a stack of these instead of cord weights in my laptop case.

Over three months and just over 1/4 of the way towards the pre-sale magic number. So what happens if you never hit 500? The longer it's up there, the less successful Quirky looks.
