Quirky’s StashCan is a kitchen trash can with a trash bag storage container included right in the can. No more hassling with drippy bags and time-consuming trash removal. The StashCan makes your trash routine simpler, cleaner, and speedier. Oh, and it looks pretty snazzy too!
Just step on StashCan's foot pedal to open the lid and dispose of your garbage. Once the trash is full, open the stainless-steel rimmed top and pull out the removable, lightweight plastic liner. Remove the trash bag from the liner and clean the liner, if necessary.
The next step is easy thanks to the StashCan’s built-in trash bag storage container -- just pull out on the next available bag in the roll or stack, throw it in the liner, and pop the liner back into the can.
With the StashCan, trash removal is a chore you and your children won’t mind completing! Trash bags not included.

Can it be offered in red? The curve should be in front, not in back- the open space would look unattractive against a wall.

I agree with the fact that wholesale is needed in order to get this product going. But i think it is very contradicting that Quirky neglects to respond on numerous enquiry's on wholesales matters. Why i have a hard time to understand. I think that Quirky is a great idea - all i'm saying is that i find it strange the members wanna earn influence and they think it is a great product - but so many are still far from production. Seriously, look at the tofu master or whatever it's called. I didn't vote for it and wouldn't have if i was a member at the time. But numerous people must have done so and therefore they should pre order the product if they think its such a great idea. I've preordered like 6 products now that i've voted for - or else it will never hit the stores i people don't help it along. If they think it is so great, preorder one.....

Maybe no one is buying because we are still waiting to find out H*W*D in inches, the gallon size, and what material it is. Please provide this info and I will buy at least one. It's a great idea and attractive.

While the price is fine. I'm very sceptical that this will sell 1870.

Just wondering how much influence is earned for each pre-sale. Is there a formula? I think this knowledge would promote more buying influence!

The price isn't actually that much off the base provided that the specs are on par with comparable items. Bed, bath and Beyond sells trashcans from $19.99 to $499.00 (yup over $400!! for a trash can!), so $54 isn't bad. But again, it must be comparable quality and dims.

We love the product, and we believe it can hit threshold. Price / Thresh was once again driven by pure capital expense & volume. We agree with Constanza that we need wholesale orders to push this through and are actively pursuing them. We also agree with Kaari that dims are needed. We will be amending the product copy shortly.

The only way out I can think of is finding a big store that's willing to pay this much for a trash can + plastic bag holder and sell them 2000 StashCans... that would surely be like the best deal ever for the guy that passed along his "social sales link". (I seriously need to go to bed now.. sorry if I digress)

Constanza Camposano 2009-11-03T02:18:23-05:00
This looks almost like a conspiracy against the product.. like someone didn't want the StashCan to ever pass the "pre-sales" stage. Just kidding! But seriously, by the time this thing is actually made, humanity would have probably figured out an environmentally friendly way of using garbage at home so you wouldn't need to throw it away anymore... And people who committed to this product would probably be dead. (Sorry if I'm being too pessimistic, but I have this impossible test tomorrow and I'm feeling really bad about it)

Ok need to know how big this thing is (H*W*D in inches)and what material it is before I'm buying one. Also, where do I get the bags since they're not included. Need to know the gallon size required.

Sale Sale Sale. Oh wait there is a larger number needed and larger price than ever before! Whats up with that? This will never make it to production!

This makes me think that perhaps there should be an intermediate step following the industrial design stage that gives us a rough idea of what different designs will cost. I think that if most people had known a trash can version of StashCan instead of an attachment would cost this much, we would have gone for the attachment.

Well I'm actually impressed with the final design. This is something I would see in Bed Bath and Beyond. As for reaching thresholds, the Quirky team needs to pick up some investors to help put a dent in the total numbers. This is over 100K in sales! I can buy 10-20 bobble brushes, but StashCans??? I won't be giving these as gifts nor will I attempt to push this design on my friends to buy.

$54!!!! $54!!!! Sorry, I'm not paying $54 so I can have access to my garbage cans! I thought this was supposed to be an attachment to existing trashcans? $54....!

Or if $16.20 is the profit margin, which then amounts to about 30%.

Wonder about this who is getting what when a product is sold.... Eduardo is supposed to get 38% of the product. But according to the sidebar he will only make $6.16. If that is 38% of the product price, the product price would be $16.20. What am I missing here?

Nobody is going to buy this thing. $54????? Come on now. I'll go to Walmart and get a trash can and throw the bags in the bottom for a total of $15. Sorry, but this is waaaaaaayyyyyyyyy too expensive.

I was going to say the same thing... 300 units is really hard to accomplish, lets see how long it takes to hit 1870. I can see a loooooong waiting. By the way, is there like an "expire date" for products that take too long to hit the threshold??

Michael McCoy 2009-11-02T18:28:55-05:00
wow, looks great, but yeah 1870 is tough...
