Love the idea! In fact, with shoulder, elbow and hand problems, I would love something like this for juice jugs and such!

Most people have microwaves. I just put my cup in and heat the water, then add tea, etc to the cup.

How about a flexible spout with a handle and spigot so you could leave the kettle on the stove (or counter top) and simply lower the spout down and then open the spigot to fill your cup. It would have to be insulated so you wouldn't burn your hand lowering it, but leakproof aticulated hoses have been around forever (think old-fashioned oil funnels & spouts).

If you cork the hole it will force the water out of the nozzle, because of the pressure build up in the can from the steam boiling the water. Same principle as a pressure cooker, or boiler for a steam engine, except you're forcing the water out insted of the steam.

You could just have a nozzle that is located closer to the bottom of the tea kettle. This makes it so the tea kettle doesn't have to have a pump or any retractable parts. All that is required is gravity to get the water to flow out. It is similar to the nozzle on the big Gatorade jugs at football games and such.

I imagine that "pumping" the water could be difficult with arthritis. what about designing the tea pot to have a twist tap or something similar to water coolers that extends below the waterline. Tap would have to be made of silicone or something to resist heat.
