Its always worked for me. Some people have had bad luck with "not so juicy" fruit.
I ordered 4 of these items. It has yet to spray even ONE spray of lemon or lime juice. However, when placed into water it sprays away. I am disputing the entire charge on my AmEx. Even my (for real) rocket scientist husband could not get it/them to work. Garbage product. Save your time AND money.
Absolutely contrary to the previous comment I can testify that Stem is SUPEREASY to insert into lemon and you need to squeeze it get more juice out of it (not 4-5 sprays but 40-50 sprays). You need to properly clean with water (deepen into glass of water and spray several times) so that lemon particles don't remain inside.
