Show AllPractical idea. A lot of apple products use magnets to connect the power cords so why not speaker wire. Simple yet cool.
This absolutely makes it easier to keep the same pair. Great product.
I can't wait to see the end result of this project. Very excited by the potential. :D
I'm new to this, so sorry if I sound out of place, but when I saw this product, I immediately thought of magnets to hold the wires together, then wondered if the magnet would effect the sound as the wires are so thin. Then I thought what if the same slight electricity could be used to generate the magnetism needed to hold the wires together. Just a thought. Good luck.
Today there are supermagnets avalable that can be very small for the size needed, without consuming power that might be coming from a battery.
i like it great idea best of luck different colors and designs would make it a lot better wish you the best.

ELLOW MATES...I thiink its a great concept ...GOOD LUCK BROTHER....ZAGNUT....
Thanks Zag. Always feels good when someone receives your transmission.
how would the sound transfer threw? there must be a 'full circle' a positive and a negative, its all well and good if they are unbreakable, but if no sound come out, whats the point? and i guess you could run the power threw it if you have 2 magnets 1 positive and one negative, but i don't know about the effects of running power backwards threw a speaker, and what if it spins in the positive and negative touch? kiss you mp3 player goodbye
My concept is not tied to specific implemntation details. I don't care if it's a magnet or a snap or a jack; just so it holds enough and not too much.
I like this if it can fulfill the ideator's intent
Great idea!
I hate to say this because I was working on a similar idea. But one of the issues that could also be addressed by this concept is earbud wearability. I've tried all kinds of products; Magneat, Belkin headphone caddy, about a dozen bone shaped, and cone shaped, and crazy shaped cable wraps.
The real trick here is to make the earbud modular and wearable.
I offer up this suggestion, set the wires in a neck lanyard. Put a nice clip on the end, so you can attach whatever device you'd like.
Take the modular connections and put them near where the shoulders sit. Add a third modular connector at the bottom of the lanyard. Include a dock connector like the "Danglet" for iDevices.
My idea was meant to be sort of mnimal and transparent to the way people use phones. I think your idea takes it to another level.
