Show AllPictures would be helpful. Is there away to hang the toothbrushes vertically so they air\dry out.
Can this be mounted on the wall/mirror? bathroom counter space is minimal.
Good idea but why need it when we already have sticky bands?
I'm a little confused.
I'm a little confused--what are sticky bands? Never heard of sticky band toothbrush holders before
Is there any way to view this? I don't see a picture, ty
Hey Nancy, check out the "Concept Phase" (line through it on the right side of this page). You can see the more popular conceptual designs that were submitted there
Congrats on this project!
Congrats John!
So simple its genius. Practical on a verity of levels. Atheistically cups can be an attractive bathroom accessory but can end up looking like cesspool at the bottom. This would be a healthier option.
This new approach to toothbrush holders, is way better than the vertical. This is more hygienic. Great Idea.
Thanks Sharon!
As a Biochemist with a background in Microbiology, I can suggest a few design improvements to this product in terms of hygiene.
1.) As many have stated, consider adding a UV light panel below where the bristles are; UV light is extremely effective at killing many types of microbes (save for spore-formers) but the main downside is the time it takes to disinfect an area. Ideally, you can leave your brushes in here throughout the day to allow the UV to eradicate germs until the next morning/night brushing.
2.) Consider adding a "box" over the bristle and UV panel area with a small slot to fit the brush heads. The main issue with placing toothbrushes in an open area is that they're likely to pickup airborne microorganisms. A very simple "shield" will prevent most of this, any that wander in through the openings will be eradicated by the UV.
3.) Consider a second UV Panel that would face the backs of the brush heads, or at least a two-part mirror to reflect some of the UV light onto the backs. The bristles are not the only place bacteria gather.
4.) Make sure the bristle "box" is well-ventilated to prevent fungal growth from wet toothbrushes.
* You can probably figure out a way to make this look cool by making the UV light come through "slits" in the box. The bluish glow of UV light can make for a striking aesthetic addition to the toothbrush holder while still serving a practical purpose
Thanks for all of the ideas Lex, I appreciate it. I've been wondering about the box idea, it was a design possibility I considered originally. Just needs to have good air flow and look good as well
I think that there should be some sort of cover for the brush heads.. the floss and toothpaste can come from it. It can also come in sleek colors...or stock onto the mirrors.
