Snow Shredder

Thrills, Chills, Bring on the Hills

View This Product's Development History

Get ready for some thrills and chills this winter... it's time to bring on the hills with Quirky's new Snow Shredder. The Snow Shredder is the ultimate in winter sleds, comfortably fitting two kids, aged six and up, in its roomy seating area.

Here's what makes this sled so cool:

- A headlight in the front of the sled, with an easy on-off button, allows for fun night sledding.

- A retractable handle makes it easy to carry the sled uphill for your next ride.

- A steering wheel up front lets YOU take control of your ride, while three adjustable steering wheel heights allow you to cruise in comfort.

- Extra handles located in the back of the sled for the backseat sledder to hold onto (it can get scary back there!).

This sled is made of polypropylene. Its over-all dimensions are 60in x 21in x 12in, and its seating area measures 39in x 17in x 6in.

Maybe a change in the color scheme to something like yellow and black

The connection from the runners to the sled look like a weak point to me.

I love the design of this little sled! I'd love to see a video of this in action too, I have four nieces and nephews that would love to hop on one of these.

Looks like a ton of fun, but what about falling off and the safety hazzards and I would be concerned with no brakes to put my kids on it. A video is probably the best idea to see it in action. I would totally buy one if it was safe and had brakes...

Would love to see a video of this beast in action! If that was possible, it may make sales sky rocket. I have a 12 year old son who would love something like this!

I live in Michigan (state of snow for those who don't know) and I would love to do some promotional extreme snow shredding. If a Snow Shredder was provided to me I would provide a kick butt youtube video showing off all of the features of the Snow Shredder

It would b cool to get a video out of someone riding this thing on the Internet I do not know how, but if we can somehow tie this to the winter Olympics starting this weekend, that would really draw attention

It does look pretty nice, but I do have a couple criticisms. On a ski-do, the reason why the runners work is because theres a substantial amount of weight on them. Whether or not the runners on this will work while most of the weight is being forced onto the back of sled as you ride down a hill is something that Id be interested in seeing. Oh, well just one criticism, cause Im sure that pink wont be the only color available if it goes into production. Also, I think we do more harm than good with the "retail will save this product" attitude. We cant expect a retail outlet to want to preorder a $60+ sled concept before it has been prototyped and safety/quality tested, then spend the money to store it for X amount of months while they wait for next winter. Its our responsibility to get this into production, where the big Q will take over with its marketing wizardry.

I just feel a need to respond to some of the negative comments here. Who wants a sled with brakes? that's half the fun. Besides ski's and snow boards don't have brales they stop by turing sidewasys to the slope which this would allow you to do = result. Runners not working in the snow? Like the runners on a ski -doo or skis or a traditional sled? I agree the timing is good. For retailers to purchase to order for next winter but yes it is frustrating for us consumers who might want want a go now but think of the long game... Want shock absorbtion? Sit on a cushion....

Yeah, we do have a taste for pink products on Quirky. This one maybe needed some community color voting.

I think part of the market was just missed with the pink accents - call me crazy.

For the price, this appears to be a phenomenal product. Again I would like to know... is there a working prototype that has been tested? Ben, have you ridden this down a slope? If so, we need to see a video on the blog!

I am not sure how to post new tag lines, but how about "Steer left, steer right, any time of day or night! "

The winning design doesn't have brakes. Offers nothing new over typical sleds but a light in the front that actually increases danger to the user. If this is an adult sled it needs shock absorption. The runners depicted will simply not work in snow. How did this design win? There were some really useful designs submitted. Bummer.

@Sergio...Buyer's that work at retailers are looking out to the next season to decide what they are going to stock the shelves with. So, many of them are probably already deciding on what they are going to order for the next winter season. Consumers may not buy here on Quirky because winter is almost over, but retailers might. They have to get all the sourcing squared away early with the factories, shipping, importing, etc. in order for the product to be in the store when needed. That's my hope anyways.
