The Quirky MugStir is a portable spoon that hangs onto the side of a coffee mug or cup of tea. Bring your MugStir to work to replace those nasty communal spoons, or to avoid wasting a new plastic spoon every time you need to stir a hot beverage.
The MugStir features:
- A handle that clips to the side of your mug, rubber-coated to protect the mug from scratches and your fingers from burns.
- A spoon that holds about 1/2 a teaspoon of liquid and acts as an ideal stirrer for your hot (or cold) beverage.
MugStir's dimensions are approximately 3in tall x 1.25in wide x 1in deep. The product comes in packs of three, so feel free to keep a spoon at work, a spoon at home, and a spoon with you when you're on the go!

Looking at the design, it seems like only a slight modification of this design will result in the spoon "clinging" to the mug. I'm not sure if I can explain, but I'll try. If the back of the spoon part of the spoon pushes on the outside of the mug and the colored handle pushes on the inside of the mug, it should hold in place. Does that make sense? A little more "curl' to the handle of the spoon should do it.

You can simply use your thumb to hold it in place....still better than a long spoon.

In response to questions on the community forum, I wanted to clarify that this product hangs on the side of the mug, but does not have a mechanism to clip.

Few comments: 1) The spoon does not need to hit the bottom. It is the swirling that mixes and not the dragging. 2) Does this spoon attach firmly or loosely to the side? When I lift the cup up to drink will it remain in place or will it dangle? 3) If it is meant to stay firm then I think the main image, while very attractive, is not properly conveying the message, so people are not getting it. The beauty is that you don't have to leave your spoon on the counter for the next cup, it stays inside the cup. And when you drink it, it doesn't stab you in the eye or swing around and spill because it adheres firmly in place. The pictures need to convey this...the spoon should be inside of the cup showing its proper placement and the cup should be at an angle showing that it doesn't move.

I think the best things about the mugstir are post-stir...I can leave it in the mug! -No poke-in-the-eye when I take a drink -No mess on the desk if I take the spoon out -No need for a tissue to put the spoon on -No finding an out-of-the-way spot for the napkin and spoon -A spoon right where I need it if I want to stir again -No searching for the spoon when it's time to go wash everything up

NIce final product. But riddle me this. Wouldn't a product like this be best if the wrapping part was flexible so it could a) fit on a variety of cups/mugs AND also bend "straight" so you could hit the bottom of the cup/mug where sugar/syrups, etc might have settled? If this spoon can't get to the "bottom" of the cup - how useful is it vs what it could be?

Hey--No worries--Quirky is on top of the ordering thing. It appears the spoon will grip to a mug--if you imagine the thickness of a mug in the MugStir it should create tension--and thus a spoon that secures to your mug. And thanks to everyone for the great support!

Looks nice. A little more info needed in the description, though... Is the top bendable to firmly attach the spoon to the mug? What is the spoon material? Is the product dishwasher safe? Thanks!

This design is better than leaving a spoon on the cup while we drink (eye poking isn't fun)...so, I just ordered 4 more! Now, if we had a spoon holder for the gross table it will sit on when we drink that would rock! I guess a napkin will do!

I can't seem to buy the spoons. I've got a good 3 or 4 people interested, but it keeps giving me errors.

I realize the spoons don't clip as originally submitted; however, I have to say that I really like this final design. I ordered 3 sets. These are going to make great gifts/stocking stuffers. Very affordable too!

I appreciate the design and the process but this final product doesn't clip on, it just hangs/balances there. The spoon will slip around every time you take a sip, prompting the person to take it off, it'll end up in the sink or dishwasher and then turn into just another spoon. It was supposed to clip on.

This is what I am talking about! Very cool, priced right, people can buy more than 1 for gifts-we need to think about this when brining things to market! This will sell! Great job! I bought 1 but going to put in for more for gifts!

In terms of material: Anything or metallic might A.) Influence the flavor of the beverage and B.) Warp under intense heat. To me, it makes sense to craft the spoon from a silicone or other light plastic, and the place some heavy magnets in the opposing "dishes" on the bottom, so that it stays sunk in the drink when level, and when the cup is tilted, the opposing magnets cling to each other so that they don't slide to either the lowest part of the cup or (worse) out of the cup entirely. Keeping the hinge flexible means that: --The spoon can be fit over the rims of cups of different thicknesses --The spoon won't fatigue as easily from bending --The two "stems" of the spoon will provide enough strength to stir a hot drink with when the magnetic tips are suck directly to each other. I couldn't think of a great way to describe this idea, hopefully that makes sense, otherwise I can add more.

Oh, I have had that problem many times. What about a design that could attach to your key chain? Maybe a kit, that would be enclosed so it would be sanitary, and easily attach or unattach to your key chain? That would be very convenient.
