Double the solution
Make the spoon longer and add another appendage, thus being able to squeeze a tea ban as well as whipping up your hot chocolate a bit. The two bowls of the spoon would fit into each other when squeezed and hang over the cup instead of hooking onto the cup, making the size and thickness of the mug inmaterial

It would be better if the length can be extended.
Disappointing
"The ideal size for most standard mugs" is frankly false. These may be the right size for hanging but they are too short for stirring.
