Weigh To Go

Know Before You Stow

View This Product's Development History

Weigh To Go is a multi-functional travel accessory whose compact form packs a digital scale, identification tag, and built-in lock to prevent theft. Tired of overweight baggage fees? With Weigh To Go, you can know before you stow!

Weigh To Go’s slim interface is made up of:

- A high gloss ABS plastic shell with a rubber bumper surrounding the exterior for protection while in transit.

- A durable steel carabiner with a built-in combination lock to prevent theft of the unit itself (not to lock your luggage). The combination can be reset by the user.

- Two velcro straps that wrap around the underside of the luggage handle to secure the unit down.

- A battery-powered scale for measuring weight.

To use Weigh To Go, just press the power button and set your unit -- pounds or kilograms. Reset the weight to zero by pressing the tare button, and release the velcro straps from the underside of the luggage handle, making sure the steel carabiner is secured. Grab the Weigh To Go body and pull upward, lifting the suitcase gently off the ground.

Once the luggage is lifted for about five seconds, slowly lower and rest the suitcase on the ground. The Weigh To Go handle will display a recording of the weight on its digital interface. To shut the unit off, press power button again or wait 45 seconds and it will power off automatically.

Great item & brilliant look & feel. Am afraid it will get damages too easily though, when luggage is 'in transit' / on the luggage belt.. Will wait for the first test-results..!

A bit too expensive. Especially if you have multiple luggages to take with you. For example a familly of 4.

With competing products selling for at or under #20 this is going to be a tough sell even if it does have the looks.

My question is very similar to Tara's.......whats the maximum weight? whats the minimum weight it can measure (Eg. can it measure o.5 kgs? or will it only weight like 30 kgs and then 31 kgs even though the actual weight could be just 30.2 kgs?)

What batteries does it take? What is the maximum weight limit of the device? (I.E. The maximum it can hold and read)? I'm interested in the device and it's a great idea.

How about adding our globalbagtag tracking service to this product it could add a great new feature for next to no cost and enable the bag to be traced worldwide via the internet, lost luggage is now the number one travel complaint.

I may be mistaken, but I think the picture shows that the lock is only meant to keep the Weigh To Go from being stolen - not lock the luggage.

My concern will be TSA, because they open random bags and if it has a lock they brake it. Other than that, I think is great. Will it actually come in different colors? It'll be nice to select the color that I like (if you make it in purple, of course).

Just have a scale on the side of it with two lights. if the red light is on, this means it is over 50lbs, if the green light is on, then it is under 50lbs. there you go.

Just an FYI to everyone going for the lock idea - luggage locks need to be able to be opened by TSA master keys in the USA or the TSA will simply cut it off if it needs to be opened. Lots of these locks are cheap, so I don't imagine it would increase the cost much. Oftentimes, these locks have a piece of red plastic or something that pops up if it's been opened by the master key, to indicate that the TSA has looked in the bag.

With the knowledge that it's going to get treated very roughly as it goes through baggage handling, I wouldn't pay much for such a luggage tag/lock. Doubt it would cover cost of manufacturing.

what if it had double locks, one fake one real, where the owner knows which lock is the real one with some sort of indicator or symbol this way, not only does it look Hard to open, (in reality its not), people will actually think twice before opening it, since twice the effort is required.
