Product 0033
Super Spatula!
Hey Quirky Community. Hope you're ready for March! We were so happy with the votes and comments last week that we wanted to put this product up for evaluation again this week. We still love this idea, and we know many of you do too, so let's give this another shot! In the updated video below, we attempted to do a quick synopsis of the product as well as summarize the many great design ideas that all you Quirks had supplied. We hope the video does justice to everyone's great ideas. If we didn't mention your thoughts from last week, our humble apologies. We've kept the attached drawing the same for now. Hopefully if this product makes it through, others can share their industrial design ideas!
So, there you have it. A spatula that does everything you wanted, and more. With many interchangeable head options as well as many ideas to think of for handle and storage opportunities, we think we've got a great product here (heck for those of you who liked the friction nubs, those are still on the spatula, uh, we mean table too :) ).
Let's make it happen, Quirks.

Click ‘N Cook Product Research, Round 2
By popular demand, we’ve decided to add an unprecedented second product research phase to the development cycle for the Click ‘N Cook, the modular kitchen utensil originally proposed as the Super Spatula by community member Fred Ende. As our team works to finalize the Click ‘N Cook’s “Rolodex” design, we wanted to gather more of your [...]

Could we get some different attachments in different colors?

@Vinnie. . .Thanks for the vote of confidence on the design idea. Many agree that we need to be cognizant of space issues. I know the design team is going to come up with an awesome product!
@Brandon. . . Great logo! Keep it up!
@Jennifer. . .Thanks for the support. . .Glad to see your Bottle Brush is rocking the house. :)

Yay!! I wanted to submit a logo, but there were a couple I thought were great so I didn't. I will buy this when it comes out though.

Here's my logo submission. Due to my slow internet it never got added to my submission correctly but it's posted in the comments. I think it turned out pretty nice.

The click into place concept that you illustrated by holding your two fingers vertically is the best way to go, on the question of attaching handle to tool parts.
Please be mindful of not creating a bigger storage problem than we all have now with two or three different "traditional" tools. Every effort must be made to reduce overall storage space with this NEW tool vs. traditional ones.

@ Egen. . . Agree about multiple storage options. It will be great to see what the final design looks like!
@Stephanie. . .Keeping it simple is important. After all, if we want consumers to purchase Click N Cook, then they have to be able to spend more time using it, than trying to figure out how to use it. :)

Love the concept, but there's something to be said about keeping it simple. I wouldn't want to buy something that I couldn't figure out how to work. Otherwise, it seems great.
btw, could the head attach slightly higher up on the handle so that it wouldn't be in as messy of an area?
good luck!

I'm definitely on board with the release button mentioned previously.
Also, I'm a big fan of the idea that spatula head storage should make use of non-counter space.
Hanging on hooks, racked on a cabinet door, magnetized to the stove side.
Cool idea, btw.

@Kyant. . . Glad you think so :)
@Mark. . .Great thoughts. Have you gotten involved with the second phase of the product research yet?

It would be quite nice to have a mess-free method of changing heads. In other words, a way to change the heads without touching the heads themselves (similar to changing the razor head of a men's shaver). It would require a one-handed release button or switch that would then allow the bare handle to be inserted into a different head, with the head auto-clicking in place. The head holder or "caddy" would have to be open-air to facilitate clean up since used heads would constantly be placed in it. The open-air caddy design would also enable one to easily see all the heads available from which they may choose. As a bonus, make the caddy and heads dishwasher safe so that the entire unit can be placed in the dishwasher to be easily readied for the next use.

Great idea.

Great idea.

@Emilie. . .Dishwasher-safe was a big push for the product. Hopefully it will be. I also like your idea of a case or caddy.
@Ann. . .The rolodex idea is certainly creative and should be interesting. It would be great if it had a fold-down option so it could be stored in a drawer. Looking forward to seeing the final product!
@Ian. . .Like the multiple handle idea. There has been much discussion about multiple heads and handles. With an extra product research phase up, that should provide the community with more opportunities to share our thoughts!

It'd be nice to have different handles, both for length (and not adjustable, those always seem to self-adjust at the most inopportune times), as well as for curvature.

usually store all our cooking utensils in our drawer and as a result of that I tend to choose ones that will fit.., yeah I know that limits me but having a small kitchen its the name of the game I have to play.., if only the kitchen was bigger...,
multi use tools are also great for the smaller kitchens..,

Could this go in the dishwasher? I would also like to see a case or something to organized all the attachments, as I would be afraid they would get misplaced. You know how you always can't find that extra part when you need it?! Otherwise, I love this product! I am a HUGE fan of all in ones!!

@Clinton. . .The taglines are tough, but fun as heck! Good luck!
@David. . .Quirky mentioned that given the type of product, more research from the community would be helpful. Check out Jess' forum post!
@Susan. . .Thanks for the comments. Quirky is planning on getting more info from community members about how they see this product working. Stay tuned!

sounds like great idea would be good if you had the attachment part and the handle part be different colour, each different attachment a different colour so to reconize what each is used for. You can pick your next attachment quickly, also I think it should come with more then one handle so that if you are cooking more then on thing at a time and you need more then one utensil at a time you can. If it has one handle and five attachment might not work if you are making a large meal and need more then one utensil it would be impractical to change it all the time during cooking, so if it came with two or three handles would be good maybe, keep the handles all the same colour or not. But love the idea

are additional design phases happening, or what?

Tagline is always the hardest for me...I don't ever even come close with my votes, let alone submit a good idea! Ha Ha
