Show AllI got my set a few days ago and I've been pretty impressed. From the tool that helps you get it in the glove, to the general accuracy using the item, I have to say I wasn't expecting it to be this good. I only used 1 of the 4 as I only would use my right pointer finger. My wife grabbed one for her glove as well. I wouldn't try to type all day with this, but for the occasional use while wearing gloves - can't beat it!
I really like these. I'm in the mid-south, so maybe I'm not as hard on mine as some folks who've had problems. I've ordered these for myself and a couple of family members, and we all love them. We haven't had trouble with breakage or any physical issues.
As far as actually using them, sure, they slide a little bit inside the glove. It's something foreign, so it's going to move a little bit, but once I got used to it, it was no big deal. As for using them with our iDevices, they worked great all the time. They worked as well as the stylus I frequently use. The are a little larger at the "tip" than most styluses (styli?), but that didn't make a difference in the way they worked at all.
From the ratings, it seems like folks either love them or they hate them. I can honestly say that I like them a lot. The only thing I can think of that would make them any better might be to coat the inside with a texturized rubber or plastic so they aren't slippery metallic...that would make them not so cold and less prone to slide on the inside of the glove. Otherwise, I honestly wouldn't change them. I bought others after the initial purchase and plan to order more. Try them...you just might like them as much as I do!
When trying to separate the 2 parts, the pin breaks (happened 2 times in a row), so I can't put it on a glove... What a waste of money!
I have never had an issue with a Quirky product before this fiasco. First the digits were really awkward and made my fingers feel a little cumbersome. Second, it was really hard to text and type with these, even after a little practice I still missed 70% of what I was aiming for. And finally, after less then a full day of usage, one front became unscrewed leaving me with a little pin popping out of my glove, one disappeared all together, and a third ripped right out the glove leaving a gaping hole, which then proceeded to unravel. If I hadn't bough this item with influence credit, I would see about getting a refund, but it's just not worth the effort. This definitely needs work. A lot of it.
Don't know if the gloves or something but for some intense use their hard specially texting.
Why don't you find a way to put the "digits" in between the fabric? That would prevent damage to the tips; thereby, prolonging its lifespan substantially. Using a material such as artificial leather may be more durable than cotton.
Your attention is directed to U.S. Published Patent Application No. 20110277215. I encourage Quirky to review this application carefully - there may very well be a problem of patent infringement should this application mature into a patent.
This product is NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME. I have now broken every one I bought after the soft tip sheared off and left a sharp, metal button to scratch against my phone screen. These buttons are also very hard to install as the screw is tiny. I have switched to warm gloves with metallic thread sewn into the fingertips and they are far superior for using my phone in cold weather.
I was really excited about these when I first got them, but I am saddened to find that in use, they are not very practical. With my knit gloves (which are not very thick) they are a little cumbersome and can get in the way of normal glove use. When texting, they are a bit hard to use as well because of their size and thickness. The biggest bummer of all is that in their first week of use, one of the pads fell off and was lost. This is a wonderful idea, but needs improvements.
I use goves at work and when someone calls me, I take them off, Great solution!
