My split stick arrived today (05/25/2010) and now is part of my arsenal of flash drives. I am quite happy with it.

I liked the idea very much, but I'm disappointed in the quality of the product. It feels really cheap and the Slider fell off after two or three weeks. I only use it as an emergency USB stick.

i may have one of the older or newer models.... but the switch to move from one to the other, is VERYY stiff. The rubber ends feel like they are going to fall off. Plus! (and this is a big one!) There is no key chain hole!! I have to remember to put it in my bag (and I am a forgetful person!).

Other than that... I love it! Its big and quick, very convenient!

A few comments after opening the product:

1- The slider nub to move it from position to position feels extremely cheap. One solid plastic piece would have worked perfectly. This could also be resolved by allowing it to slide easier.
2- There is no place for a keyring. I really wish I was in on the development on this product, because this is one feature I feel is a absolute must.
3- It is a little too wide, and although I like the metal casing, having that casing all the way around would be a lot nicer.

I love that this product got off the ground, but to be honest it was a bit of a let down. There needs to be a bit of fine tuning to take this product from unique and good, to unique and awesome.

I was so excited to get this product. The packaging was awesome (but does anyone know why it opens backwards as compared to a book?)

But then I got it out of the packaging....

Anyway, the slider was slightly tough to snap and the rubber came off. The rubber outside could easily be put back on, but it felt a little too wobbly. The case also feels like a tin can. Its maybe a half millimeter thick. If I dropped it, the case would probably be dented or scratched pretty bad.

Then I put it on my computer. The stick was slightly too big for the port, so I had to take care of the end with some sanding paper. It was recognized and the tech part of it worked fine.

I'm a little disappointed with the quality of this product. I would have been fine with paying $5 extra for the sider to be metal and for everything to be fine tuned. If this hits shelves, these things better work 120% or people are going to be PISSED.

Just for the record, I'd like a fully functional replacement or a refund because of its poor quality.

This is horrible. I absolutely hate it.

I was expecting something of much higher quality when I got this item. The packaging made me look forward to using it. The awesome start was ruined slightly when I saw there was a chip on one of the USB drives. However, nothing prepared me for trying to use the thing. Let me explain. The slider knob snaps off, you can barely insert the drive into the usb port, it hardly is ever read by the computer, and lets not get started on the casing itself. It looks like, feels like, and is about as sound as construction paper. When putting a drive in the port, the thing actually will push back itself into the case, forcing you to jam it in your port with reckless abandon or risk snapping off the little knob.

Overall, I am very dissatisfied with this product. I want my money back or a higher quality replacement.

Just got mine too! A+ for the cool "Try Me" packaging, and for including all of our names on it! Of course, first thing I did was "try it"...and the little slider knob popped right off and almost got lost. It's easy to put on again, but this would not exactly make me confident of the product's quality, were I trying this in a store. Oops! Made in China, ftl...

Are you still planning on offering the yellow, purple, and gray versions as shown in the rendering at the top of this page? Also, now that you have an actual product in hand, would it make sense to replace the big rendering with a photo of what they really looks like? I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed some differences between the two - the shape and size of the thingy that you slide back and forth, the style of the symbols (which looks etched in the renderings and embossed or silkscreened on the final), and the overall finish of the product (almost metallic in the renderings and more matte on the final).

I GOT MINE. It's snazzy. Small complaint, the thing you push to change the orientation of the USB stick looks flimsy, BUT IT LOOKS AWESOME! I recommend black with dots and circles

The 200 unit pre-sale threshhold on this product was passed on July 26. "Will begin to ship within 6-8 weeks" means no later than September 20. Today is September 22. Wow.

Great product, two problems though. I haven't been able to personalize my selection (not that big a deal imo, but still a problem) and secondly the amount of storage. I would gladly pay another 5-10 dollars for an increase to 4 gigs per side, especially now when a terabyte of storage can be bought for about $100 US. Just something to consider, depending on where you are looking to go from here

When the split-stick hit threshold a few weeks back, we immediately knew sourcing a memory-based product in the US would be a [...]
